  • Oracle Quest - Faction Fixing

For those of you whom in a younger and more impulsive past killed the dear sweet Oracle. Here is how you right your wrongs.

    --MOST IMPORTANT NOTE--

The Oracle posesses two factions: Dark Bargainers, and his own personal faction (Oracle of Karnon).

The ONLY way to raise his faction is by doing the Book of Turmoil quest. By turning in the Book of Turmoil you can raise your Oracle faction.

    --END MOST IMPORTANT NOTE--

    --GETTING THE BOOK OF TURMOIL--

Ok the Book of Turmoil quest is incorrect on Alla's. Please use the following recipe. Alla's mentions Marenkor, a vendor, who though may share Rysva's last name is not her brother. Perhaps husband, no one really knows. DNA testing in progress to confirm relationship. Just know that these following steps are correct.

    1. Get a few stacks of red wine. (Yes any red wine will do)
    2. Go to Lokar To'Biath in Neriak 3rd Gate,Library, left side.
    3. Feed him red wine in 4 high stacks till you max out Dark Bargainer faction.
    4. Give him 7pp, or 70gp, or 700sp, or 7kcp. (Confirmed them all)
    5. Kill Lokar, loot his head.
    6. Go to Rysva To'Biath in Neriak Commons, Blind Fish, bottom floor.
    7. Buy more red wine 1 stack.
    8. Give Rysva the note from Lokar and you'll get a new one back.
    9. Give Rysva the new note and Lokar's head and get a Book of Turmoil.
    10. Go back to step 2 and continue.

You can get as many books as you have slots for, they are NOT LORE.

Lokar has a respawn of 6 mins. Works out perfectly to feed, kill, run to his sister, and come back for another kill.

--END GETTING THE BOOK OF TURMOIL--

--TURNING THE TURMOIL BOOKS INTO THE ORACLE--

You will need at least an invis caster for this, recommended enchanter for REALLY bad faction.

    1. Have the enchanter Pacify the Oracle.
    2. Initiate the trade with the Oracle.
    3. Have your partner in crime invis you.
    4. Click Give.
    5. You will receive a glowing torch and faction with the Oracle of Karnon. And back faction with the Oracle of Maraud. But who cares about him, he doesn't give out a cool robe.
    6. Rinse and repeat from step 1.

I really can't tell you how many books it will take. But I estimate that I killed the oracle maybe only 4 or 5 times while I was an unruly newb. Thus far I have turned in about 20 some odd books and will do more tomorrow. I am still apprenhensive.

Keep up the hard work and if it comes down to this, really this is the easy part. The hard part is sitting on the docks waiting for that forsaken boat. If you're smart you'll time the boats and keep two egg timers rolling. I'd give you the times on the Sirensbane and Stormbreaker but then you wouldn't appreciate it.

=D Good luck to all you Faction Frenzied Folks. I will let you know when I have successfuly completed the quest.

In my younger days I helped kill the oracle once. 10 book turn ins got me back to neutral, so I suppose its going to be 10 books per oracle kill.

      Faction

Just to remind people that you can, as I did, do this quest at dubious faction.

Do you need indifferent faction to do the phylactory quest, or is being non-KOS enough?

Can you do the invis trick for handing in to the Assistant?

You need at least indifferent faction to complete the quest.

To the best that I can remember, I believe I killed the oracle about 3 times. It took me about 24 books to get back to indifferent.

I play a Dark Elf Necro, not sure if that helps, but roughly that's what it took.

Very nice summary. Would you mind if I steal this for the write-up of the Oracle quest?

Master Fisherman (200) and possibly Drunk (2xx + 20%), not sober enough to tell!

Yes, he sees invis, and he also is sometimes backed against the wall, so sneaking doesn't always work, either.

However, he is on the Dark Bargainers faction, and that faction can be raised to Indifferent by giving Lightstones to one of the DE merchants in South Ro. Specifically, the one who's the "Smith". Her name starts with "Smith", and I forget the rest.

You can sneak behind her or have someone invis you when the trade window is open. I just did this a few days ago, and it works fine. Once you are Indifferent to the Dark Bargainers, the fellow in the Neriak library will cheerfully accept your wine.

I am assuming you are going to Erud's to collect GLS. Make it easy on yourself and hunt the wisps in Jaggedpine Forest - they drop a GLS each time.
