    2 questions.

    1. How much of the preparing for the war can you do ahead of time? I mean can you get everything you need to give to the general and then come back like a few weeks later to finish? I don't want to try and put together a force and then have to do a bunch of turn ins if I don't have to. Is the general always up or is he triggered.

    2. With PoP and such, fights that used to take a raid force can now be done with less than 2 groups sometimes less than 1. What is actually needed to do the war. If a single group can do it, what is the min class break down? I'm not in a very large guild and it will probabl be a thrown together raid so it might not be the biggest. If you fail, do you have to start all over with shawl 8 or what? Thanks

    1. Do everything you need prior to the escort on your own before forming raids. I sat on my approved issue kit a few months before I got around to doing the escort.

    2. You will need some form of mem blur. The general gets himself stuck at times, and also gets aggro on players, so enc/bard mem blur is needed. I would suggest a couple groups, tank heavy to do this. You will be fighting 5 mobs at a time, many unmezzable, plus dealing with yard trash adds like dervishes/kitties/etc. It's much better to have overkill for this, because redoing it would be a major pain.

And if you fail you have to make all the armor again. You don't turn in your 7th shawl until you finish, so you don't lose it. But you will not be able to trigger the Dain a second time, you will have to catch him when he is up.

The general doesn't get stuck any more. But having monk FD and chanter mem blur will give you more control over him, that's for sure.

I've done it four times within the past couple of months or so, and I can confirm the general has not gotten stuck once. It's handy to have someone to aggro the general to stop him, then memblur him when the mobs are dead to continue.

My cleric sat on his issue kit and marching orders for about 6 months, so no worries there.

As far as forces needed...I had 9 people for his walkabout and it was a piece of cake. Course, I'm from a largish guild that just broke into the EP's, so you might need a few more. 12 people from a smallish guild should be ample...18 would be overkill. But considering you'd have to start over at the beginning of the 8th shawl--without the benefit of being able to spawn the Dain--overkill isn't a bad thing

Have a chanter with you for mem blur...even though he doesn't get stuck any more, someone invariably aggroes him at some point. Be warned that after the last wave of giants, the General will swim across to the next island--that's how they fixed him getting stuck on the iceflows. I wasn't expecting it, and the Avatar nearly despawned before I could get there to turn in.

Oh, and if you have LoY...go to eq_toolbox.com and down load the maps (if you haven't already). The IC map clearly marks the General's path, as well as the spawn points for each wave.

Cleric with atone also works instead of chanter/bard. Have done this several times without a chanter or a bard.
