  • Grand Robe of the Oracle-MQ-Other Way

A couple of questions for those who have completed the quest and received their Robe or Tunic:

    1) after your turn-in, does the Assistant respond again to "What other way?" and give you a new Token of Service every time, without having to hand in 6 more books?

    2) If the answer to #1 is yes, have you tried to MQ the token with someone else who has NOT handed in the 6 books but does have a Velious Quest Robe/Tunic, and was it successful?

If the answer to #2 is Yes, there is a problem (IMHO.)

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but this would probably not be working as intended, because:

    - it means that the 2nd person is bypassing quest content (by not collecting the 6 books and turning them in), and getting a VERY nice robe/tunic for almost no effort (additional to getting a velious BP in the first place, that is)....and.....

-the 1st person who did do the quest could exploit the unlimited # of Tokens by selling MultiQuests for the Grand Robe/Tunic. The robe is a great reward for the effort involved in the quest, but what amounts to unlimited platinum for no additional effort other than repeating a trigger phrase over & over would be overkill in the risk vs reward equation, don't you think?

    So, what's the scoop?

    I tried ...

I tried asking "What Way" again after I finished robe and he responded as usual but didnt give a token.

Now I know that he will take the books out of order once you've completed the quest

What I do not know is if you can hand in just a velk book after you finish quest and ask "what way" to get a new token.

another VERY important question to ask, is there a difference in the reward if you hand in kael/ss as opposed to thurg robe?

I wonder how much us hybrids who might want the tradeskill reward but apparently won't be able to take advantage of the turn-in part can sell the MQ for?

(Assuming that the quest is working/broken as intended and you can't make the tradeskill part without doing the turn-ins.)

I am also curious if a caster can turn in a leather tunic and a priest can turn in a caster robe.....

Bump, i'd really like to know, i dont want to spend all this time and pp and get a reduced reward because thurg robe might be easier to find. Does the robe turn in matter? or is it the same result for all 3 robe turn ins????

any info about this one? i'd like to get my cleric bot the FT4 tunic while keeping the tradeskilling ingredients for my tradeskilling druid.

I will have to go hunt for a velious BP for my cleric to use in his MQ, but i wonder if he is able to hand in any type of velious BP (plate, chain, leather) for the same reward.

Probably. I ended up getting a Grand Tunic even though I turned in a Thurg robe, and was able to get my robe simply by turning it into the guardian while he was charmed, so it doesn't really seem to make that much of a difference what you turn in initially.

You probably get the same result for turning in different robes.. unless everyone turned in Thurg robes like I did. So far all the Grand ____s of the Oracle seem to match.

                    From the patch message today:
                    - Raotin Teawel will always give out the correct robe for completion of his quest.
I wonder if this means he'll always hand out the correct robe based on the class of the person turning in the chest item (what do melees and hybrids get? And what about shamans?) or if you get the matching robe for the chest item you get in (again, what does a plate or chain BP get you? And what about clerics?).

Not in a position to attempt this (the books are insanely priced on my server now) but . . . I read that statement that KyrosKrane quoted to mean that whoever gets the robe, making the final hand in, will get the correct chest piece.

                        Hello there.

I've been following the forums on this subject in another thread very closely.

I got my own robe the day after they patched (11/06), and I turned in a Thurgadin robe. The reward was the same robe as what has been posted, except, of course, they fixed the "Focus Effect" to be just "Effect" as it is with any other flowing thought item.

Also, though I have not tested it myself, the following information is from the other forums (New Oracle Quest), and has been confirmed by two or more players.

                        1) Turn ins for the books are required. You can not MQ the token with a robe, unless the person you are MQing with has the flags for the books (assuming it is a flag system).

                        2) I believe a ranger has tried to do the BP side award and got his token and BP eaten.

                        3) People have turned in the Velks book and received their token of service again.

                        4) ANY velious bp of a wis/int caster type is acceptable. A wizard turned in a cleric bp and received a robe. Forgot which other examples there are, but this one particularly pained me since I spent 3 weeks in Kael with 2 plate bp drops and 2 chain bp drops, but no silk.. had to buy it eventually =P

Hope this is helpful and not redundant for all of you =) The only thing I can confirm myself is that a thurg robe yields the same robe reward. But the list above are things that logically make sense to me, and that I believe.

I was the second person to complete the quest. I handed in the Thurg robe and my token and only got the robe. The person before me handed in her Kael robe and got the tunic by mistake. The gms fixed it for her and gave her the exact same robe as mine so it doesn't matter which robe you hand in, the results are the same.

Pretty positive this is a one shot opportunity since they didn't give the token back with the robe.

Also pretty sure that you can't skip the first five books and do Velk's book to just get the robe. When the enchanter before me handed in her books in the wrong order, the assistant said to be careful and not too hasty next time implying he wanted the books in a certain order.

I didn't say that you can turn in the Velk's book and get the token of service =) I said people have mentioned turning in the Velk's book AGAIN and getting ANOTHER token of service. I forget why they tried it, I think it might have been the hybrid/melee who got his bp and token eaten when he tried to do the robe part, and/or there were some people who tried to MQ their token of service with another person doing the robe turn in which of course leads to their token being eaten.

I haven't tried it, and don't really want to waste a Velk's book to try it. But all the numbered points are the points in the New Oracle Quest forum that has been confirmed by more than one individual.
