  • 8th Shawl MQ

I finished the 8th shawl with my main just after it first went live. At that time you could just ask the loremaster "What issue kit" and he would hand it to you. I was planning to MQ the 8th shawl with my 64 Bst this weekend but when I went to get the issue kit from the loremaster he said he wanted to see my 7th shawl first. Does anyone know if this is a recent change? Any thoughts on wether showing him the 8th shawl would work? Any ideas at all on how to MQ it now before I have to undertake the smithing route with yet another character.

    Thanks

The 8th shawl is still MQ'able... to a point.

You may want to (re)read the writeup on this site, especially the warning concerning the dain. It can be found here.

Essentially, here's the deal. When you originally craft your 7th shawl, it's got a certain lore tag... however when you hand it to either the chamberlain or the dain, it is not the same item returned; it has the same stats but its lore tag is different. This was put in place to keep people from using their 7th shawls to repeatedly spawn the dain.

So the method to MQ the shawl is as such: your smith needs to either still have their 7th shawl, or else must have a spare issue kit. Make up the royal velium pieces and combine the kit. Now log on the char you're MQ'ing it for and hand in their new 7th shawl in to the chamberlain or the dain to get the modified version, then immediately log your smith and hand in the combined issue kit. The dain will give you the approved issue kit and the royal coldain orders. Now assemble your raid, move both characters to the general in iceclad, do the handins with your smith, and log on your MQ'er and follow the quest to the end.

Good luck; I hope this helps. I know it works as I have done it myself.

Thanks but as I said in my post.. My MQer already has his 8th shawl. I know I need to get him an issue kit to combine armor in.. I am just trying to figure out how to do that when the loremaster wants to see his 7th shawl. Right now my only 2 thoughts are work up smithing on my beastlord or redo shawls 1-7 with my cleric to get the issue kit to use for MQ.

Looks like you're out of luck. As far as I know, only the 7th shawl can be used to get the issue kit. If anyone out there has sacrificed their 8th to test this, please do post, but it looks to me like you're going to have to get smithing up on at least one more alt, or else redo all 7 on your main to get back to this point.

/nod. So far I haven't heard of any successful multiquest that didn't involve the smith having a seventh shawl.

This quest may not be one that is really intended to be multiquestable.

And a good thing too in my opinion.

              Hi there =)

Elaana has it pretty much covered, I just wanted to confirm. I read the 8th shawl walk through carefully, long ago, and saw the tiny little window of opportunity that they give you. Anyone who does the 8th shawl turn ins, as long as they have their armor ready to be combined, can summon the dain with their new shawl, run downstairs, grab a kit from the Orders to Solstrin, combine, get the orders again from the dain and get one more kit. Leave in the bank for any future use~

Of course, all this does is save someone the torture of smithing, and getting a few more points in JC and tailoring... Saved my enchanter some torture anyhow Also told a few friends who were also working on the 8th part. It's nice to have that extra issue kit on hand in case you have an alternate caster.

But I agree with Lord Grimrose. It's a great thing that that window of opportunity is very small for MQing the shawl. And even then, blacksmithing and the extra points in jc and tailoring doesn't seem like that much of a leap when you're already working on your tradeskills for the 7th.

It's a shame, Braaknag, that it's too late to MQ now, but at least you know to get an extra issue kit on your beastlord for any future casters you might make =)

              Good luck!

Thanks for all the input. I just redid the quest up to the 7th shawl with my cleric. took me about 2 days to grab all the components. He can now get as many issue kits as he wants in the future. The MQ works fine this way. The person recieving the 8th shawl just needs to make sure their shawl is "approved" by the Dain or the Avatar will not accept it.
