Has anyone noticed a nerf in the drop rate of the wolf whiskers? I have killed over 250 drakkel dire wolves with not ONE SINGLE whisker...

That don't sound any different than normal. They never were very common. I quadded them for a level or 2 back when I got xp from em and only got one the whole time. -
I don't know about that drop rate - I did mine back in May/June and while the wiskers certainly weren't common, I know for a fact that my SK didn't have to kill that many wolves, and I ended up farming 6 whiskers since my first combine had failed.
Perhaps I got lucky at the time or perhaps it was the area I was working - I was basically focusing only on the gorge that the wizzy spire is in and the "steps" north leading up to the edge of the zone.
I killed ALL types of wolves, although I honestly don't recall if one particular breed was more prone to dropping them then the others.
It is conceivable that the drop has been nerfed or broken when one considers all of the other stuff that's been busted these past few months.
No more EQ for me till they fix the crash bug.

Are you absolutely certain that the corpses are empty when you loot? The whiskers are very, very hard to see against the background of the new UI. You may wish to hold down the alt key when looting to make sure there's nothing else there, and watch that the corpse poofs when you're done checking.
But they ARE very rare. I eventually gave up on hunting for them and resorted to running around to see who was hunting wolves and sent tells to them offering to pay for looting rights. And remember the RNG is involved here as everywhere else...unlucky streaks can happen with drops, too.

Finally got mine. Must have just had really bad luck. I went back and did them for about 2 - 2.5 hours and got about 6 whiskers. Finally combined it and got the 6th. Then got the components for the 7th. Successful combine!!
Thanks for your input guys.
Now on the the 8th, here comes a ton of embroidery needles!! Wish me luck!!Comment
