Seems now every race has an awesome Quest for newbies (Shar Vahl being the most prevailing) but from what I see here and in the Game Iksars have gotten the Stick with quests, any word about Class specific armors at all for my Scaled Friends?

Well... the Monks did have a series of newbie armor, the quests just sucked hard.
The shackle quests are actually pretty cool, that's not the one I'm complaining about.
It's the sparring armor quest that's such a pain. You got to hunt down what appears to be an ultra-rare spawn and get a moderatly-rare drop off of it (mind you, the mob is like 5th level, it just never shows up) to get something that Wu's armor would be much in preference to.
If they are going to use that as an excuse... it's a pretty lame one.

I hardly consider Patriarch's to be their Newbie Quest armor, but it wouldn't put it past Sony to impliment it only for the Mainstream races, Iksars just arn't getting the loving anymore, if they did they would go back to Kunark and fix spawn timers PHs.. but not with EQ2 coming.. no sir..
sorry.. just venting now..

I took my iksar necro back to Cabilis for a scout around, not long after the finishing of the newbie quests was announced. I didn't find anything that would qualify as a newbie armor NPC.
The one thing that makes me wonder is that in Halas they added a new NPC next to the beastlord GM, about where you'd expect a newbie armor NPC to be. He doesn't respond to hails. Beastlords are the only class that don't have a new newbie armor set, across all the races - barbarian, troll and ogre - that have newly created quests. It's possible that the NPC is for some other purpose, of course.
On the other hand, vah shir don't and never had any class appropriate newbie armor.
The only equivalent is the ghulam armor (and rebirth and hunting leather). This is different from newbie armor, in the sense that it is one set that any class (but large races only) can get, and all drops required for it are no drop. It has a much higher required level to quest solo than any of the other newbie armors. I'd actually suggest that it's a worthwhile upgrade for many classes, especially beastlords, after getting their race specific armor.

The original races had NO known types of any racial armor quests. Dreadscale and Trooperscale are practically the old world Crafted for Iksar...
as newer content was added, early content was included to make gearing up new characters (in an already established game) a bit easier.
In an effort to draw newer players and spread out the learning curve, they added new armor quests to the races that had no specific 'noob' armor.
The races/classes that had ANY form of noob armor were left out, even if their armor wasn't as impressive as the noob armors of other races.
So that's why most Beastlords and Iksars don't have 'new and improved' noob armor...
