  • 3rd Prayer Shawl Skills... I dont get it.....

Ok, I finally made the Pie, now for the Souffle. Since when I attempted the pie at skill 101, somehow, I FAILED the Pie Combo!
Now, at skill 120, I made the pie with ease, but now, I'm inspired with fear ot ask a question: What is the REAL triv for Snow Griffin Souffle?

You obviously dont tradeskil much, do ya?

the RNG is a cruel, fickle and evil thing.

Example: Im a 180 smith. I was making metal bits for tinkering items.
I planned on making 4 stacks. They trivial at 18. 162 points trivial.
First 3 stacks = no failures.
    Started 4th stack. I failed 3 IN A ROW.
    Evil.
    Cruel.
    Heartless.
    Insane.
    RNG.

If you're this upset over such as easy combine (low triv and easy to get components), you might think about stopping the shawl quests.

Hehe, if you dont like those failures, stop tradeskilling. All items but silk swatches and silk threads (and guess luclin versions of them) got a chance of failure., generally said to be 5%. The closer you are to trivial, the higher chance of failure, but there will always be a chance of failure.

        Examples:
I were doing my GM tailor needle, and figures that since i had WAY over trivial in all the combines, i decided to make the artinans seal myself. Get the materials (8K at the time, before POP, so BD price were high), and mount all the gems no problem. Then i go to the pottery wheel to make the seal, not even worrying about failure, since trivial are 102 or lower, and i got 190 pottery + had my pottery geerlok equipped.
        Blam, 8K down the drain.

Im doing wood elf cultural armor. For that i need bonings, which i need Blue Diamonds for. To make them, i gotta do several tradeskill combines:
Pottery combine (BD and acid in kiln)
Brewing combine (BD powder and purified water in brew barrel)
Smithing (BD temper and mithril and file in forge).

Those combines usually make me loose 3-5 BDs a stack (best result 0 loss, worst result 8 BDs lost), BEFORE i get to do any tailoring from them. (and then theres all the other partial combines that can fail too on the way, but only mentioning BDs since thats the expensive failures).

I succeeded on my first attempt with 142 skill on two seperate characters. Getting there from Fish rolls was easy since I was hunting Frost Giants in EW for XP/Faction while also hunting for the snow griffons. I just made Frost Giant steaks for skill and when I finally got my fourth Egg voi la, done no prob. Suggest the same to anyone in the 50 ish range looking to solo the quest. I did it as a cleric so anyone should be able to.

            Been there too

I went for this shawl at Baking skill around 145 -- and burnt the Ulthork Pie also! What a mess! Ran out, bopped a few more Ulthork over the head, ran back, made the pie (phew!) And so yes, I was very very nervous by the time I finally got the 4th griffon egg, remembering the pie trouble. But the souffle came out perfect (double phew!)

If I HAD to fail at a combine, I am so glad it was the pie and not the souffle!
