Gnome Cleric Newbie Quest Weapon Question

Hi all,

Perhaps folks can help me here. I have a gnome cleric, and I've been trying to finish all of his newbie quests. I have the entire suit of armor, and am just working on the weapon at this point. The weapon require three Flawless Harpy Claws, and one Ebon Drake Backbone. The claws seem to be pretty rare, but I found one, so I know they drop, and from what. My question is about the Ebon Drake Backbone. Alakhazam's says this drops from "Ebon Drakes, in Steamfont and Rathe Mountains." I have never seen a regular "Ebon Drake" in Steamfont. I have seen plenty of Young Ebon Drakes, Lesser Ebon Drakes, and Ebon Drakelings, but never just an Ebon Drake. I have killed a ton of the previous three, and have yet to see a backbone. Can anyone definitely confirm for me that I am killing the correct things? Is the backbone just an ultra-rare drop, or do I need to be killing normal "Ebon Drakes"? And if so, where in Steamfont do they spawn?

Ok, *sombody* out there must have finished the good Gnome cleric weapon quest. I am desperately looking to get confirmation on which type of ebon drake in Steamfont actually drops the backbone. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Quests Requiring Trade Skills

For some reason I had logging off while I did my hunting for gnome mage questing, so this is from memory rather than with log support.

Pre-revamp, the valley to the right as you zone in to Steamfront from LFay had a number of "Ebon Drake"s (in a sort of odd mirror to the rare "Emerald Drake"s in BBM).

Post-revamp, there are a number of places with the 3 types of drakelings you mention. The magician quest also requires a rare drop from them (young ebon drake bile), and I know I farmed them for QUITE some time before I finally got it. Your backbone may simply be an equally rare drop :/ I would guess its from the Ebon Drakelings if I remember the naming convention right, but I don't know for sure.

As for the "Quests requiring tradeskills" aspect, the newbie armor quests do trivially include tradeskills for all pieces except the handheld object. They're included on the site, and while EQTC boards may not be the best place for such questions, it does seem appropriate.
