Aid Grimel - Step 4 question

I was wondering if as a Barbarian Shaman who is KoS to the Coldain if there is any way I can do the J.C. part of the quest without having to slave away in Kael to raise faction? I know from a friend of mine that she was able to sneak into Thurg and get the etching Tools, but will Invis work the same? I am doubting, but I am hopeful.

Anyone have an experience with being KoS and how did you work around it?

I struggled with this a bit until I had an 'oh yeah' moment.

The hammer is droppable.

Problem solved..;-) (the vendor will still give you the other stuff you need if you manage to get in to her alive)

Borrow a droppable hammer, use a mule to buy the stuff you need and take advantage of those shared bank slots, and you can talk to the Meg and Talem while kos to the dorfs outside, they're on merchant faction and do not go kos. I did the entire quest completely kos to Thurg, just had to bot a chanter to turn in the vial to Tain and hand over the hammer.
