  • Any tips for killing Sirens in CS?

I've had the fifth shawl for a long time and decided it was about time to get the next one.

How tough are the sirens? Any idea how many HP they have? Think a 60 Ench could solo them?

Are there only two in CS? What's their respawn time like?

    Thanks,

There are 3 spawn points I know of. Out on the tip of the island past the SS portal down near the ocean. 4 spawn here.

Underwater near the SG zone in. 2 or 3 spawn here.

Underwater near the wrecked ship in the center of the zone. One spawns here.

A level 60 enchanter should have no problems at any of the points. I could solo the 4 at the lands end as a 57 shaman. I just buffed up so I didn't have any buff slots open for their charms to stick.

      Eh...

My experience has been that negative spells will overwrite buffs if there's no space. I've seen dots do this quite often. I realize that some debuffs do this as a matter of course (for example, the malo line overwrites the mage self-only elemental buff), but many times I've encountered harmful spells that will only overwrite a buff if there's no space left in the buff list.

At 57, however, with only a moderate bit of MR, you should easily have been able to resist charm anyway. Most of the sirens in CS aren't really that tough.

High level and high MR and they are easily soloable.

While i was on my ranger, killing them at 65/120ish MR for my shamans shawl (I kill, he loots and soaks up xp), id just pull sloppily, often gettin 2-3 at once finishing up the fights with barely a scratch. The occasional Anarchy would land for a few damage, but no other spell would land, and they did more damage melee then they did with spells.

There are at least three or four camps of them, with several spawns at each. All underwater of course. A level 60 enchanter can solo them no problem, MR gear is recommended. Mez, debuff, then Dementing Visions and quickly mez again. If you keep them mezzed 90 percent of the time they can't charm you or cast damage spells back at you.

I would add this: always use EB items when fighting sirens instead of EB spell. Its a lot safer.

Really Eumerin? Strange, I've never had a dot or other negative buff overwrite an existing buff, except where the spell is designed to remove it, like Quicksand removing SoW. I've had a buff fade or been debuffed, and a few seconds later had a negative buff hit and stick. But whenever I have all buff slots full, I've never had one instantly replaced with a negative buff. Spent days doing this with the Sirens in CS, Adjuncts in Nadox (for blood of nadox spell drops), and now Geonid Shamans in WL.

Maybe it's spell and/or MR levels that affect whether it will be overwritten?

I would (and did) personally choose the SG zoneline. There are 4 spawns there, right at the entrance to the tunnel to SG. I parked my pet up top in the tunnel, went down in the water and pulled them out of the water.... Easy there, you can zone into SG if you get in over your head. Spawns are like 17-20 minute timers, have about 10 minutes downtime waiting for the next pops...

No. If you have every buff slot filled, the next detrimental buff will overwrite the first beneficial in the list (provided there isn't a specific buff that is over written as mentioned previously). You can duplicate this identically every time, just fill up all your buff slots and get dotted etc.

I always keep non-essential buffs at the top with preference for clicky effects.

I soloed them as a 52 enchie with a charmed wyvren as a pet. Quite easy.

You need to be careful with charmed pets, however. They can and do cast dispel, and the last thing you need is for your charm to get dispelled.

And Azirux, if you've never had it happen, count yourself lucky. It usually only happens to me when I'm grouped with my guildmates and they've gone buff happy again (which drives me nuts because they block things like heals over time), but I've seen it happen with mobs that don't cast (and thus can't dispel) but proc dots instead, as well as mobs that cast.

Thus when fighting mobs that cast or proc dots and/or debuffs, its generally adviseable to leave a spot clear.

Good to know about buffs, thanks guys! It's probably becasue when I go solo after tradeskill/shawl stuff like the Sirens, they were all green/lt blue and I took them down quickly. When I'm grouped and don't fill my buff slots, I'm rarely the target of the mob, unless I try to slow the mob too quickly and pull aggro away from the MT, which usually only lasts a second or 2...

As for spots to hunt them I found the best to be under the SkyShrine Tower.

There are 2 sirens in the water on "rocks" on the north side of the peninsula. 3 sirens on the little acove northwest on the peninsula and 2 sirens on an underwater rock and one more on an alcove on the southwest side of the peninsula. 8 spawns total with about a 15 min respawn time.

Being a Beastlord I pulled them from the top of the peninsula by Nuking them and Running backwards away from the cliff. I tried to sit so if the charmed me I wouldn't go anywhere but I never got charmed.

I thought that the pets, charmed or summoned, shares the resistive stats with the players. So, if you have high MR, you should have no problem with the dispells on the charmed pet. I soloed (actually two boxed with my druid since I didn't have snare) those 3 at the bottom of SS entrance. They are above water and easy to kill if your RM is high and you are high level. Only thing to watch out for is the occasional wandering Bulthalk (I think) that comes by and wack you at the most inconvenient time.

I have also hunted 3 of them to SG entrance. I just don't like water battle so I just pull them to the tunnel to SG and fight them there.

The few that live by the wreched ships are not that easy since the visibility is low under water and you get dispelled and nuked from sirens you can't see. Again, pull them to the shore where other 3 sirens are and you should be fine.

                            Good luck.

I didn't know about the underwater ones. That explains it then.

First time through I killed the three at the base of the cliff. Next time around my pet started attacking one, but I couldn't find it. Pet was slowing dying so I just zoned into Skyshrine (I'm dubious there). Same thing happened the second time. And as an enchanter, I can't control my pet yet, which is very aggrevating when your pet runs off to attack something and you can't find their battle.

Anyway, now I have the Shrine key so I can just zone back into CS. I'll have to try pulling them to the top of the cliff.

                              Thanks,
