  • Need your knowledge fellahs : from 190 to 250

    Heya all,

    I'm a rogue.
I stopped Potery at 188 before Luclin.
Then I reached 190 with PoP and news Advanced vials.

    I was waiting for :
    - Planar Power 5
    - Shared Bank Slots

(I remember stats needed for Potery are WIS first DEX second, right ?)

Now both are mine and I'm happy.
So I plan on crafting again some potery thingies.

    I got some cash.
    I got some time.
    I got a Geerlok too.

I just need your wise advices on the most optimized process to reach 250 from my old 190.

I'll be pleased too if some can teach me how many PP this can cost me, depends of my craft item choices.
I prefer spent more money and avoid timesink due to farming.

Thanx for your helps and kudos to this great site living and ruling from so long time. You all people do a great job.

I am only at 200 right now waiting on more AA points to push this one over

I have been making steins to sell slowly to recoup costs.
the Opal steins will go to 222
the star ruby will take you to 250

If you just want points you can push to 216 with this one:
    the Unfired POP steins

I have a mule up 24/7 selling them and an alt baby chanter who makes my mud for me so i think this is the easiest for me now. I am breaking even with selling the opal steins for now so I will keep them up once i get my AA points.

    Good luck to you.

First thing your going to need is a baby enchanter. Almost everything requires at least enchanted clay to make if not also mana vials etc.

As far as what to make there are a couple different options. Since you have PoP access and are lvl 65 if you have all 5 levels of Planar power then you now should have access to zones where tainted planar essences can drop. If you can gather these up while exping they are used to make the planar steins. My experience with those is that even the peridot enchanted one which is used in a quest sells very slowly but if your gathering the essence while exping the cost isn't too high. Those will take you up to 216 pretty easily.

Steins are an option for skilling up too. Opal steins will sell slowly and steadily and are cheap enough that most people want 2 for every char they play and will just buy another set so you should eventually be able to sell as many as you make if you can store them all and can leave a vendor up long enough. Personally I did opal steins but just sold them to a vendor. Cost on them isn't too much, 20ppish per combine and it wasn't worth the time and effort for me to try and store them and sell them for 50pp. I've personally got over 500k in the bank and I am the guild banker so my vendor is up all the time but also often full with a variety of guild items being sold.

After that you can go to the star ruby steins. These go up a fair bit in price ~70pp for the gem and the success rate goes way down, with 236+ gearlock I seem to get 40-50% success on them. You can do these all the way to 250 but you probably do want to try and sell these to recoupe some costs and that will take time. Do yourself and everyone else selling them a favor and don't try to cut your price to sell faster. You won't really sell any faster and you'll just kill the price on the items at the 500 or less that they are going for on most servers now it isn't an issue of cost just of people actually looking to buy so cutting yout price really isn't gonna do much.

The other popular option is to do the old world idols. These do require 2 things tho. A higher level enchanter to do mana vials and someone to imbue gems. The cheapest gem to work with is star rose quartz but that requires an elrossi worshiping cleric, not a common thing to find. Not too much more expensive is amber which works with cazic worshiping shaman and clerics and is much more common. Both these spells require the caster to be in thier 30's (34 or 39 can't remember off hand). There is pretty much no resale on these at all so you just end up destroying them but they are a fair amount cheaper than the star ruby steins.

I got 10 stacks of Tainted Planar Essence in bank (for Poison) is it enough to train ?

I got my baby Chanter too, and I can grab a HL Enchant.

        Advice ?

I am pretty sure that it's either wis or int, not dex.

I did planar steins, but mostly opal encrusted and star ruby encrusted steins. I wound up discovering old world jade idols and wish I had done so much much sooner.

If you can, I'd suggest just making these and throwing them away. The throwing away part makes things pretty fast compared to selling and storing endless unstackable mugs, and the mugs are more expensive too.

To do any of this stuff, you definitely want a baby chanter of your own or at least chanter help. You go through enormous amounts of enchanted clay. And mana vials, too. Luckily, the pottery mana vials for skill ups and the clay are doable by a very low level chanter. I leveled mine to 29 just so I'd have a slightly bigger mana pool.

Anyway, on the old world idols, jade ones worked very well for me. The jades cost about 4pp each, and the nice thing is that rallos zek shamans can imbue them. That's great because high level shamans get their mana back extremely quickly. They can really pound out the imbued jades. So it's not as much an imposition on your friends(or yourself, if you can do it) to get stacks of imbued jades going -- and it's stacks you will need and stacks and stacks indeed.

So you get the combination of cheap plus relatively easy to do if you get a shaman to do it.

The old world jade idols trivial at something like 243, so I'd say they're probably a better path than anything else you can do after 199, when casseroles trivial. That's a huge span of very difficult skilling up, and it's great that you can do it so cheap and easy. IF, that is, you have access to or can get favors or buy stuff from a lowbie chanter and someone who can imbue jade.

I got to 207 with unfired planar steins (Forget about firing them, just destroy them. THANK YOU SoE for making pottery Utterly Valueless). I got sick of making steins, so I thought I would give my GM trophy a shot, at 207, Failed. I got angry, and tried again, Failed. Then I said forget it, I need more skill to get this trophy. Chanter (65) friend gave me another artisan's seal, told me to try once more, WHAM! GM Trophy at 207 skill.

Anyhow, From 207-219(current skill) I made ceramic bands. As pp is not an issue (I have well over 200K) I just have my chanter friend make me stacks and stacks of mana, and buy all the gems I need. Costs ALOT, but worth it. and IMHO MUCH better then those multi-pard Idol combines...

These are just my .02, and may not work for you.

Plat is a bit of an issue for me, so I've tried to go the cheapest route I can. Around 20pp per combine for opal steins wasn't so bad in my mind, I made them from around 205 (had some tainted planar essence saved up which I used to get 199-205) to 222. But star ruby steins are a bit too costly for me, so I've been farming heavy clay and making unfired crucibles of escape. They only cost about 7pp per combine, well within my budget. I was also able to buy 5 or 6 stacks of imbued amber at about 10pp per gem, so once I hit the crucible trivial of 236 and find a lvl 29+ enchater to make the mana vials, imbued idols look to be the way to go.

I know everyone is different, but I must say it always seems surprising to me when people dont want to make and sell star ruby encrusted steins and other cool stuff. For me, that is why I became a potter. I still make and sell these higher end pottery things. And yes, I'm much richer than when I started.

And /agrees, please don't undercut the price on SRES. Since they are part of the 9 gifts (and a cheap part), this does not increase demand meaningfully. Just match the low price and have your share. Oh, and do consider making Golden Idol of Tunare in equal numbers - particularly while still trivial to you. In the macro market, someone needs to make a GIoT to go with every SRES (not many are used for resist gear!)

                          DING Grand Master Potter !

                          Thanx all for advices.
Here was my short and dirty list (from 190 skill) :

                          - Casserole to 199
                          - Planar Stein to 215
                          - Opal Encrusted to 222
                          - OldWorld RallosZek Idol to 248
                          - OldWorld Tunare Idol to 250

                          Rough cost from 190 to 250 : kinda 30KPPish.
(All was Storebought except 15 stacks Tainted P.E. I was saving for my poisons)

                          /bow all
                          /thank
