I want to know what the expected success rates of spirit/faithstones should be. I have tried 5 at skill level 206 failing all and 5 at 211 failing all. I was hoping to make a few of these to help finance more pottery skill ups since the idol market on Brell is poor now. My skill is now 214 and I am wary of trying again. All combines were attempted with a geerlok. I know that even with a maxed skill level they are not a guaranteed success, but if I could make 1 out of 4 or so they could still be profitable.

I'm at about 50% or so at 252 skill. I think you could be close to 1 out of 5 at your current skill. (If I used the equations right and if my success is exactly 50%, I think yours at 214+GL=225 will be 23%. Call it 1 in 5 to be safe)
Personnaly, I feel it might depend on the specific one, like for golden idols. For example, I've had great luck with Learned, medium with Underfoot, and horrible with Tunare. And I'm batting 1000 for Marr and Banished (1 each 8) ).
I find it hard to believe, though, that there is volume on these to make it worth your attention just now. On my server (Karana), they move very slowly. You can make a lot of Opal Steins, Crucibles or even Erolsi Marr Idols for the same plat.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately every one I have attempted so far has been a Learned for a guildie. I plan on doing the opal steins after I finish the PoP unfired steins in 2 more skill points and then doing some crucibles. After that I'm not sure, probably whatever I can scrounge components for.

Try doing old world jade idols. They are cheap and can be imbued by rallos zek shamans, who have lots of mana, so imbuing isn't hard for them. My ogre did his own, but not after doing many hundreds of star ruby encrusted steins once the planar steins and opal steins trivialed.
Throw the jade steins away, but if you make star ruby encrusted steins, they will sell, but slowly. 68pp per gem cost alone with no failures on lacquering, which actually fails a fair amount even at 200 JC skill. And you have two more combines in which to fail. Until you're about 240 skill, you'll fail on about 2/3 of your star ruby steins if you are like me -- I had 275 wisdom, and no geerlok equipped usually, wanting skill ups rather than completions. I'm at 249 now and 50/50 or better is common -- but so is 50/50 or worse.
Spiritstones and faithstones I succeed, with geerlok and 249 skill, about one in three times. I have tried dozens of them, and had a couple of runs of six and seven failures in a row at that skill level! I have not yet had similar runs of successes. They sell extremely slowly, so I make them now mostly just to show people that I have the multiple wares of a successful GM potter, in case they want to ask me for special orders. As a way to make cash, unless you can get all the materials at next to nothing(including vials of distilled mana, which cost me 250pp each in bazaar), considering a 1 in 3 success rate overall even with max skill, I wouldn't recommend doing more than a few of these just to showcase your wares. They're one more thing to make people check your trader out of curiosity and maybe buy something they hadn't originally been looking for. (I put the red licorice and the T.V. Guide in my first two slots.)
