  • cost for 200-250?

Hello everyone, first time poster here D

I was just wondering an approximate amount of plat it will take for me to get from 200-250. i am actually at 199, if that makes a difference. Also, will any of the new PoP pottery recipes make a difference in cost? i am a little low for tier 1 planes now, so i would have do buy any mob drops needed for pottery.

I want to know how much because i have been hunting in seb at the gaurd camp a lot, so i am makeing plenty of money, but it is a hassle to leave seb, so i want to be able to have a shot at getting near 250 (or 243 actually, i have a gearlock)

    Thanks for any help!

I asked this question awhile back on the old boards, and it was from 203 to 250. What everyone figured would be around 38k or there abouts.

It all depends on luck and imo its hard to say how much it costs.
Most of the 200+ stuff can be sold in bazaar and actually earn money by making your way to 250.
Tho i have had problems for quite some time now. still at 223 after more than 100 combines on that skill. Lucky me I have gotten all sold so far. So it has not costed me that much. Just get yourself a few Iron Oxide providers to a cheap price and it should not cost you that much.

          Interesting.

I have been having terrible problems raising skill as well.
I have 212 skill in pottery.

I did tons ( like 260+ combines ) of Opal Stein combines and got 0 skill ups. I succeeded on every single combine.

How bizare is that?? I was so boggled I took off geerlock and even dropped some wisdom and I couldn't seem to fail. Grats destroy on hundreds of opals steins.

So I thought that Opal Steins must have been too easy and so I would be getting a low rate of skill ups.. so I decided to move on to Star Ruby.

So last night I went to the bank and took out the remainder of my money. Then I bought 6 stacks of Star Rubies.

So combining 120 star ruby steins and I got again 0 skill ups.

In between Opal steins and Star Ruby steins I also did a ton (50ish) of planar steins with the excess materials I had laying around. Succeeded all, 0 skill ups.

Pottery is broken. I am broke.
Running total: 19k and 0 skillups at 212 pottery.

            The moral of this story...

...is that the trivial of the item you are trying has nothing to do with your chance of skill ups, unless, of course, the item -is- trivial. There's no sense in blowing a fortune on Star Ruby steins if you can still do opals.

Also, if you're looking to keep your costs at a minimum, and don't feel like competing in the glutted opal stein market, kiss up to a cleric of Erolissi Marr (and an enchanter, but that's pretty much a given and do Idols of Erolissi Marr (Clear Mana + Enchanted Clay + Imbued Rose Quartz + Idol Sketch + Sculpting Tools) - the overall cost here is less than opal steins by about 1/3rd, assuming you don't pay for the imbuing/mana creation.

Just a cheap way to get above 200, if ya dont mind spending some time getting stuff. Make crucibles of escape, farm muddites for a bit and get heavy clay, then go to rivervale, they got the lesser succor scroll for 5 plat, and a wheel with vendor right next to it, gotten 3 pts making them lately. Also something else ive noticed, not sure if just a fluke, is that i get a point in the first 20 combines, if i will get one, then like none for the next 80 combines. So the other day i had 100 heavy clay, did 20 combines, got one pt, and stopped. the next day when i logged on i did another 20, got a pt, stopped. Thing is i always stop combining after i get 1 pt, and then try another day, and get a point, but when i just blow through all the stacks of items i have to combine, i will only ever get 1 pt if that. must be a fluke.

                Skillup

Just to add, Tebyen's figure may have been based off an old study done PRIOR to the skillup changes for pottery. Since then my experience has been that it's 2-4 times as hard to get skillups...

I GMed my Pottery way before they made the Pottery harder. I spent about 10k from 0 to 250. I was around 200. I did Star ruby steins all the way. and Star ruby steins were sleling for 700ish each at that time. but now it's more likely 300ish pp on our server.

Last night - Skill 222, I made 9 white ceramic bands. No skillups.
Then 19 star encrusted ruby steins. 8 survived. THREE skillups.

Pottery - 225. I am happy. 2 sold last night while I was asleep for 500 plat.

Waiting for 1 more star ruby stein to sell. Then I will break even (with actually 100 plat profit), and can go make more. I figure I'll do this until I fill up my bazaar mule's bank space with star ruby steins....

Harvyst, that's exactly what I do too (also on RN), though I don't seem to be getting skillups at the moment

Make a couple of opal steins (I'm under 222), an idol and attempt a stack of star ruby ones, sell the results before making more.

The market is there, I just don't agree with the people who put up 15+ of the same item in the bazaar at one time :/

I got most of my skillups fairly cheaply: my guild went through a couple potc pushes, with lots of people collecting stuff to get their earrings made. I did their combines. The first time, I only did golden idols, but my skill was under 200, and I hadn't really planned to GM. The next couple pushes I did all the combines and had it down to a science, so to speak.

I also did lots for guildmates' faithstones and spiritstones, and even a fair number for another guild.

It made my pottery way more worthwhile all around--my cleric/shaman friends all have faith/spirit stones, my guildmates have potc earrings!

                          Iona...

I did 40 more encrusted star ruby combines last night, and got a total of zero, yes, 0, skillups. Also did 2 golden idols of tunares, no skillups.

                          Auugh.

On the bright side, they are selling well.

I usually fill my trader's bank up before I fill her up. But when I completed my opal rush, I had no space, no where. I had two alts and her just crammed with the things. Thank god, every one sold. I do keep around 8-10 on her though, as sometimes there's a rush before I get home from work (I am on PST, people buy around 5 pm EST), and I'd hate to loose a sale. But I don't glut the market.

Some person gave me grief yesterday about the price, but hey, I sold all 8 of them before 6 pm PST, so if they don't like the price, they can go elsewhere. My trader is 24/7 so I usually catch buyers when nobody else is on... during the day, after patches, etc.

                            No skillups

I agree that it looks like there may be a problem with pottery skills post patch. I just did 80+ combines on Casserole dishes and got 0 skill ups. Current skill is 166.

Seems to be working as normal...

Nothing seems to be wrong. Did 18 planar steins tonight. Got one skill up. (202 to 203.)

Skillups do still happen. And they're probably still as arse rare as they've always been. Nothing is broken.
