  • Relative 250+ Difficulty Levels - Steins/Idols/Spiritstones

Okay...having just gotten over 200 skill in pottery, I'm now becoming 'popular' with the PotC quest crowd. But I'm finding that all of the 250+ trivial items are not created equal. In my first session, I went 7 for 7 on the Golden Tunare Idols but 1 for *10* on the unfired Star Ruby Encrusted Steins. A later session also gave me 1 stein for 10 attempts (which I then lost in the kiln ) Still another run later on gave me *0* steins for 10 but 2 successes out of 5 for Spirtstones.

Can someone tell me if the Star Ruby Encrusted Steins are actually that much MORE difficult...or did I have really good luck on the idols and stones?

BTW, I wasn't stupid enough to try this as a way of skilling up These were with componets that guildies brought me and ASKED to have combined for them. Mostly why I'm asking is just so that if things are as bad as I think I can ask people to hold off until I get a few more skill points under my belt.

    Any input would be appreciated.

Star Ruby Encrusted Steins have a very high trivial. Once you're over 200 it's fairly easy to skill up on unfired planar steins to 216 then Opal encrusted steins to 222. At this point with a geerlok you should be able to make star ruby encrusted steins a little more reliably. It's actually not that bad of a way to skill up once the opal encrusted steins are trivial.

I think I've failed about one of around 50 Golden Idols of Tunare, at skill ranging from 222 to 234 ( + geerlok or Trophy). Things seem disturbingly easy to make. I've actually lost more of them to the kiln than to failed combines.

Star Ruby Steins are another story. The trivial here seems VERY high. I think I still get an average of about a 35-40% success rate on these things. That's about what I get on faith and spiritstones too. (I consider myself lucky if I do a "batch" of 4 faithstones and get two for my trouble.)

So... to sum up: your experiences are quite normal.

First of all Golden Idol of Tunare trivials at 242 not 250. That's why you are having such a success at it. The rest of the idols are above 250 so they are harder to make. I think the trivial is the key here. Although both stein and spiritstones are both above 250, I think spiritstones (or faithstones) have lower trivial than steins so you are more likely making them at lower level. For example (pure speculation here) stein maybe trivial at 275 and spiritstones at 260. Then at 200, you would have much better success at making spiritstone than stein. Just a thought but I think it makes sense.

Actually, I did a run of *70* planar steins and got exactly ZILCH in the way of skillups...while during the combines listed in my first message I got 4 (201 to 205). I'm willing to attribute that to the fickle RNG...but since nobody WANTS planar steins (it's so easy to squeeze one out for anyone doing the Beginning Stealth manual at will) and the unfired ones don't sell to vendors, I'm figuring I'm better off with doing something people actually want until I have money to just blow on skilling up.

DOH! ops: That would explain that. Thanks for pointing that out.

At 250 skill + trophy I have about 35-40% success rate with star ruby steins (worst batch 2 out of 10, best 12 out of 20), around 60-70% on faith/spiritstones, around 50% on golden idols other than tunare and of course almost 100% on golden idols of tunare as they are trivial to me.
