I had set myself a goal to get as many skills as possible to 200 before LoY come out. As it happens, I missed on pottery by one stinking point. :x (For the record, made it on JC (250), baking, brewing, and fletching.)
Dropped about 1k on attempts at blue ceramic bands last night after triv'ing casserole dishes. (If I never see another ceramic lining, it will be too soon.) No skillups there, and I just destroyed the successes. (I've already got 10 in the bank, and they don't ever seem to sell, so no use keeping more.)
If I'm only interested in that one more point (already having GMed JC, I don't much have a choice for several more levels), what do you think is the best way to do it? My criteria here, I think, would be, in no particular order:
-- not horribly expensive
-- preferably (mostly) vendor-buyable components
-- ability to resell components for a significant percentage of purchase cost if I get the skillup early in a stack
-- ability to sell product (if not to players, at least back to vendors for a significant percentage of cost)
The ceramic bands fulfill the first two, but not really the 3rd or 4th (lacquered pearls don't sell back for much, do they? though I suppose I could sell the clear mana vials for a profit...and as I noted above, I could barely give them away, let alone sell them). I'd certainly be willing to give on at least one of the above criteria, maybe two...
Am I best off just sticking with the ceramic bands, or am I overlooking something easier? I'm a chanter, so magic clay isn't a problem, nor are mana vials (except inasmuch as the gems required add to expense).
