Unfired Planar Steins from 200-216

I decided to give it a try, and honestly I don't know if its better or not than just doing the Opal Encrusted Steins. The skill-up rate seemed comparable...roughly 40-60 combines on average per skill-up. But the Opal Encrusted Steins seem to sell pretty well in the bazaar for 20pp each (approx cost) as compared to the planar ones which don't sell nearly as well.

As far as speed, with buying Tainted Planar Essence from vendors, I could get 200 combines done much quicker than the same amount with the steins.

As far as cost, Opal Encrusted Steins cost much less overall if I sold the successes at combine cost. Less of a loss is better than a total loss, and I only seemed to fail about 10% of the time.

Peridot Encrusted Planar Steins are a required component of the Beginner's Stealth Manual quest (the upgrade of the Planar Traveler's Manual). I sell them regularly in the bazaar for 150pp. Cost is only about 40pp (assuming I buy the tainted essence for 10p), and I feel guilty for selling them that high. I see others try to sell for 300-500pp, but I can't bring myself to mark them up 1000%.

Same thing for Hobgoblin Surprise. I buy meat for 25pp, combine it in PoK and sell for 150pp. Now if only the Planar Blood Brew were as easy to get components for...

The reason to mark them up is that the resulting book item is equivalent in value to ranged items that regularly go for 2k or more. However, since no one has been willing to price the items at what they are worth, the cost has sunk to the ridiculously low price you mentioned...
