    The route I took:

    Standard route(which I copied)
0 - 54 Pottery Quest in Abysmal Sea
    102 Unfired Small Bowl
    122 Unfired Medium Bowl
    148 Unfired Large Bowl
    199 Unfired Casserole Dish
    222 Unfired Opal Encrusted Stein

    Then my route
242 Unfired Idol (Karana) [make sure you have the right one)
    http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_...r=010000000000
268 Unfired Stalwart Hilt Casting Mold (Immaculate Silk)
302 Unfired Spherical Bottle (until I ran out of Air Infused Spring Water)
335 Unfired Star Ruby Encrusted Stein (Needs an Enchanter Lvl 39 or up - Otherwise all Store Bought)

There are other suggestions in the tradeskill guide forum.

I don't think you need a lvl 39 chanter for that one, just a lvl 8 to enchant the clay and a little bit of JC skill to lacquer the star rubies.

The star ruby encrusted stein looks really expensive as NPC's only buy it back at 30 plat.

Are there any cheaper paths that don't require foraging? =)

Not that I am aware of. As mentioned in the other thread, check the quick trivial list and see if you spot any "cheap" non foraged recipes. Typically that is what most people try and use though is the cheapest, easiest to obtain path to skill up.

Gotcha, I guess it's just that it looked like the stein only sells back for 30pp while the components cost much more.

look on the brightside ! we could have Unfired Faithstone of Decay as the only viable choice

I believe that one is the requires level 39 chanter for the vials of distilled mana and 2 sapphires per.

Pottery because of the stacking pains (can't stack unfinished pottery pieces or they might stick together) makes it so that a lot of people do not even fire and sell back the steins.

They are a GOOD source for tribute. They give much much more than 30 tribute so that might be another option. Consider it as a tribute gift or find someone looking for tribute items that will buy your steins.

I skilled up pottery with star ruby steins on my beast. Ran endlessly back and forth from the kiln to the tribute dude and still ended up storing a bunch when I maxed out tribute. It definitely requires a cash investment to do it that way, but you get more in tribute than you spend in cash and it doesn't require any farming.

Now that I'm working up my mage as well (intentions to do Shawl 2.0 on both toons) he will burn through my hoarded stores of silks to make hilt molds and such before starting on the steins.
