Is there a recipe that may cost tons of plat but has all the materials bought from a npc and is easily made?

Most ppl do star ruby steins to 300 but i don't remember if they need a dropped item or not:-(

Whoops, stand corrected...I thought they had reduced the trivial on those, but guess I'm mistaken. Which helps me choose my path too

You're really better off going in stages. If you're doing combines whose trivials are closer to your skill, you're going to be succeeding more often. Your skill up rate is roughly twice as fast when you're succeeding than when you're failing.

I'd recommend going to the abysmal sea and following the order listed at http://mboards.eqtraders.com/eq/showthread.php?t=30177 through the ceramic linings. Then you'd need the assistance of an enchanter to make some clay and possibly a priest if you decide to make idols.

According to the calculator, you'd be doing somewhere on the order of 1,200 combines just to get your skill to 199 with the star ruby steins. If you were to split it up even two ways (linings then steins), that would reduce the number of combines by about 350. Not only would you be doing fewer combines, but the <200 skill combines are typically less than 2pp per attempt.

Chanters get the mass enchant clay spell at lvl 8, so if you can't convince anyone to make them for you, it might be worth it to level one up so you can enchant them yourself.

Yah, planning on creating a gnome 'chanter, just in case I ever get the tinkering bug...and I will when I eventually turn to fletching.
