Darn . . . 100 idol combines at 278 and no skill-ups. 100 combines before that and only one skill-up to get to 278. Should have gotten 8 skill-up points according to the calculator. My longest dryspell yet. Did they hit pottery with the nerf bat and just forgot to change the trivs? The RNG hates me.

Does anybody wait a certain amount of time after a patch to start skill-up attempts? I think that might be an issue sometimes, plus the fact I forgot to do an extra cartwheel and jumping jack before two last times. j/k

No, no! You do those AFTER the skillup. Before it, you have to stand on one foot, hold the other in your right hand, and howl at the moon, but only at noon. /nod

Is that how it was supposed to be done? No wonder I got sucky rate, while wearing only a grass skirt and putting on a show in front of eskimoes (though not as bad as Ngreth in spandex )

Some things I used to do:

            1) Always buff up fully and wear your best gear (in order to show your seriousness and respect for your activity to teh gods of teh RNG)

            2) Every 2 or 3 combines move a little bit and jump if you haven't had a skill up.

            3) If you go for 15 or 20 combines without a skill-up, zone in order to try and reset your bad-streak.

            4) Always do all skilling-up and important combines in the lowest-lag areas you can find.

            5) In PoK, never use the dwarf forges, they are cursed and unlucky (nothing to do with the dwarves, I am sure, just those forges always had tendancy to fail a lot for me) - only use the forge in the building near the fishing/alchemy/poison merchants.

            6) When equiping a TS-Skill-Mod item, always wait a min or two (or preferably zone) before you attempt a combine that uses that skill-mod - to make sure the skill-mod actually takes effect.

            7) Never equip a skill-mod item in range or ammo slot (this dates from years ago, before you could see the skill-level in the container, but there was a lot of circumstantial evidence that indicated that a skill mod item in one of those two slots either had zero effect or subtracted the skill mod instead of adding)

Don't forget to go outside in the snow, turn around 3 times and spit.
