  • Stormwatcher Stone

Haven't seen any info on these but I'm going to go wayyyy out on a limb and assume they drop from "A storm watcher" in BoT. Killed about 40 of these and have yet to see one... wondering if it is, in fact, an uber rare drop, or if I'm killing the wrong gargs or something...

I had wondered same lately, on how common these things are. Thanks for the feedback.

          insane rare.

I've never personally seen one drop and I have killed ~100 storm watchers looking for them.

Up to around 100 myself and still haven't seen one. Tradeskills are fun right?

Anyone ever seen a market price for the rod of storms? Not that I expect to ever have extras for sale, with this kind of drop rate...

I sold two at 20k each on Lanys... much to my surprise. Going price for the Ceramic Sword of War at the moment (or the only one I saw on a trader in Bazaar to base it on) is 25k... but the only one of those I've made, even though it would presumably be more useful, just sits on my trader. Go figure.

                erm...

Stormwatcher's stone is for the Ceramic Rod of Storms, not the Ceramic Sword of War, so that might help clear up a bit of confusion. =P

Had one of these drop on a raid going up the towers last week. Was VERY happy to see it..;-)

As for the post above, I think the poster was comparing the relative value of the items, the prices he/she is selling them for, and surprise at which one hasn't sold yet.

As for Ceramic Sword of War...8500 on DRo, thinking about buying it..

Mostly right... yes, was comparing prices. My shock was at the fact the two Ceramic Rods of Storm SOLD at that price though, rather than that the Sword of War just sits there. LOL

I tried pricing the first Rod lower, by the way, but received a tell shortly from someone "suggesting" I raise the price.... (Hmmm... trade cartels, heavy muscle and all that jazz?)

Well, in my opinion, the Rod of Storms is a -far- better item than the Sword of War. I've never really been impressed with extended range.

Stormwatcher stone drop rate makes Henora cry.
I have yet to see one after hundreds of storm watcher kills.

An enchanter friend gave me one and I promptly failed the combine.

I hope you waited until you were 250 + 5% before you tried.

Did I miss a post somewhere Forthofer?

the cap is still 252 for tradeskills from all accounts I have read. So skill from 240-250 +5% would cap your skill at 252 and give you the same success rate. So I don't see what the point would be in waiting to reach 250 before trying combines.

I had about a 65% success rate making ceramic skulls in the 220s (and with a markup greater than 20x cost of components you're better off combining them at 0 skill than holding onto parts). I can't speak for the rod in particular, but I don't think the focus items are 300+ trivial like a trophy or PotC gift, they're just not that hard to make.
