Vergalid Clay

I want to attempt the Artisan Charm, but I don't have the Serpent Spine expansion yet.

So far I have collected all of the pieces needed for 4 attempts in the bazaar, except for the vergalid clay.

I havn't seen the clay for sale in the bazaar on my server. Is it that rare? Or is it just discarded by non-tradeskilling players?

It is not that rare. I have 7 in the bank from XPing over a few days. Unfortunately, I'm not on your server, or I'd be glad to sell you some.

I'd say that non-tradeskillers are quite possibly discarding it. Or that it's just not being looted much. The mobs are bunched in groups of 4-6 and the zone isn't the best bang-for-your-buck XP-wise. The only reason my wife and I hunted them was that no one bothered us there.

it is probably the item that is hardest to solo the mobs which drop it. The "quarry workers" work in groups and have their aggro linked it seems so pulling singles is very difficult. There is an area inside some of the caves where the job becomes easier, but I think this is just a pain in the neck drop for farmers, so they go elsewhere. Whenever we have needed the clay, it drops commonly, but we get one piece and move on.

They aren't linked...they're just close together. You can pacify pull them. I believe you might have to kill the overseer for the group first (the drakkin). And I think the group spawns as a whole based on when the overseer dies. I say this because we would get the last one dead, and POOF, they would all spawn at the same time.

You can solo pull the ones in the far caves quite easily without lull. I slow-pulled them on my BL for the drop. It isnt common and the only time I have seen it on my server in the Bazaar it was very pricey (5k).

My advice, if your in a guild ask someone to farm one for you if they will.

For anyone still looking for clay... I was able to get two so far from the single miner near the river just under the catapults. I found that I could kill the goblin, do a catapult engineer or two and then go kill another goblin. It may take a bit longer this way but it is doable solo without adds.
