Simple Formed Potion Recipe Broken?

For my apprentice alchemy test, I must make a potion of formed slime V which uses the simple formed potion vial. I have a 120 skill in pottery so I know I should have no problem making this vial, so I look up the recipe here and attempt the combine. I only get the message these items are not combinable in this container type or whatever. I have tried over and over again, I've tried slightly altering the recipe and always the same. Someone please help!!!

I made a batch a few weeks ago, worked fine according to the recipe listed on this site.

Well, I continued trying and eventually I decided to try EXACTLY how the recipe was listed without adding water, (apparently this particular clay is more supple than most and doesn't require water), and voilą, it works... I was under the (erroneous) impression that all pottery recipes required water, thanks for the replies, also, it was not for my apprentice alchemy test, it was the freshman one, just for the sake of accuracy in my post.

these vials are made to be broken, so water is not used in order to make it more fragile after firing
