I finally got tired of being stuck at 242 pottery and made a push to hit 250 this past week, finally getting there last night. (WOOT!)
Since hitting 242, I've seldom pottered just for skill-ups, being content to just make sufficent star ruby steins, golden idols, spiritstones and faithstones to keep my trader stocked. I didn't want to try to GM making the steins because I don't want to ruin the market there for steady sales. Early in the week I suddenly got a skill-up to 243 and decided it was time to get serious again, so decided to do imbued idols. For some reason on Lanys server one can almost never find vials of clear mana for sale in the Bazaar. Sigh... was lucky enough to find one stack early in the week and made imbued emerald idols, gaining 2 points. (245) At that point I started querying friends with enchanters, begging for one of them to make me a few stacks of mana. I got plenty of promises for some "as soon as I can manage it" but not one of my friends came through.
Last night I started ooc'ing early in the evening in PoK and asked as well in our guild alliance channel and market channel, but not until I blatantly promised 1k per stack did I get a response. The enchanter who responded thought I was being overly generous (read desperate) and said she didn't think there was much use for that spell and in fact had never cast it before (and she was level 52!). The two stacks I paid for gained 4 points (249). By the time I was done, the chanter had logged so I had to go through the whole process again, obtaining one stack from a 57 enchanter who then went off to fight in PoN. No point.
Sent her a tell and she said she'd do me another when she was done there.... so I waited and waited and waited.... Finally I decided to try just one run of 20 attempts on star ruby steins and BOOM hit 250 on the third one. Was so shocked I left my sculpting tools in the wheel. LOL
I don't know why the RNG gets stuck sometimes. I know I did hundreds and hundreds of combines while at 242 with no gains, and 4 stacks of imbued idol combines for seven points was a trifle amazing in the first place to me. But I got there, finally, and to celebrate pushed my hunting partner to get his last three points in baking just a short time later.
All my other tradeskills save smithing and tailoring are up to 200 now. Guess I get to give it a rest until I build up a few AA points.
