been trying to reach 220 on pottery am currently 203 but constantly runnin gout of items to skill up with... im wondering what recipes you all used during this area of skill?

Unfired Planar Steins to 216

All storebought except Tainted Planar essence which is usually abundant enough on PoT vendors. It's roughly 17pp per combine and has 0 sellback to vendors.

If you can't find a good supply of Tainted Planar Essence, try the slightly more expensive Opal Encrusted Stein . It requires enchanted clay, as well as JC to laquer the opals, but it's vendor items only, and it'll take you up to 222

That is exactly what I did - a combination of planar and opal steins. Though personally, I did alot more planar stein combines between 199 and 216, because the tainted essence was more plentiful and easier to get on vendors and in bazaar then bothering an enchanter for magic clay.

If you can find a cleric who worships Erollisi Marr, you can make Unfired Idol. It also requires the services of an enchanter, but those are the clay and mana are usually easier to find than an EM cleric. Vendor costs on these are around 18 or 19p, trivial is like 255.

There are unfired idols for pretty much every diety. Most of them use gems that are a bit more expensive, but, say, you might have an easier time finding a cleric/druid of Tunare and using emeralds (total cost per combine about 27pp) than EMarr. (Plus the Tunare idol trivials higher -- 280-something -- if you're interested in going past 220.)

On my server, when I was at the unfired idol stage, we actually had an over-abundant supply of imbued plains pebbles in the bazaar, so they were cheap, and I used those as well.

Is it just me, or were the Unfired Planar Steins cursed?

I hoarded hundreds of the essences during my PoP progression run, finally burned them up tonight. Out of 189 combines, I got 10 skill-ups. Smithing never got that bad until about 225!

That sounds about typical for that level of Smithing. Realisticly the closer you get to 300 the longer each skill up will take. I average about 1 skill up in 30 combines at 290.
