  • Pottery nerf soon?

Was chatting with a guide buddy recently. He told to me that a pottery would be seeing the addition of a large number of recipes and he hinted that some existing recipes would have there Triv's revised. I was wondering if anyone else had heard anything??
I am stuck at 279 pottery now (150 attempts and zero skillups, forced me to break) and was thinking should I Ruby Stein my way too 300 or hold out for a different route to 300. Your thoughts please.
I would add that I am down to 80kpp and my trib is maxed 200k on 3 characters and close on guild.

I think we're all expecting the shoe to drop and nerf the steins in the same way the Solstic Robes trivials were changed with tailoring, but I haven't heard a specific date.

I feel your pain. I finally saw 2 skillups recently to get to 282 pottery. I'm mostly doing ceramic shields of valor as an alternative to the steins, but it's difficult to do them en masse, especially when I typically only sell about 1 a day.

Give Spherical Bottles a try. Those cost ~1pp + whatever you pay for the Air-Infused Spring Water. I am usually able to get some for less than 50pp, sometimes as low as 35 pp or even 20 pp (!). That's cheaper than Star Ruby Encrusted Steins and it's a lot less work (no JC needed). I am at 292 now, mostly bottles after 282 with the exception of some PoP combines.

The bottles are great... I was able to buy over time about 6 stacks of them. Got 3 improves from them (286, 287, and 288). As to the "other shoe" dropping soon... hmmm... we have all been expecting it every patch and so far nothing has happened. I believe that SoE were totally embarrased about what happened with Tailoring and will be very deliberate about how they change the trivials on items with other tradeskills. I think they will introduce new receipes that lead to new skill up progressions first and only change the trivials on the other items afterwards once they have a chance to judge the changes.

I lucked out and found 170 waters in the bazaar last night, and went from 250-270. I hope the rumors are correct, it's about time pottery got some help and was made somewhat useful again. Hopefully the new charms are better thought out than what we've seen in-game so far...

Looks like the pottery charms are here, but from what i've seen on the boards looks like they require drops from high-end raid drops, giving the uber guildies of the world yet another way to make money from us lesser mortals. Im hoping that this is not true, and that SOE have actually made the charms available to anyone who is willing to spend the time farming, rather than just the high-end guilds. Think like "A Suberb orge hide" or "A half-eaten halfing muffin", an ultar-rare drop from a common mob.

              wrong.
The journeyman, expert, and master Charms do not require any drops that you have not had to get before for cultural. The WORST case is that you will have to do the journeyman, expert, master symbol book task again to get patterns (if you emptied your book)
The Gradmaster does require a drop from DoD, but it should be available single group.

I think you are talking about the slot 12 augments, which does require raiding.

First Master's and Expert's charms are appearing on lucy. Here's a link to the ogre-specific Master Charm of Physical Power:

                http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=93310

A few things spring to mind immediately.

First, if the charms are made with a symbol pattern, why are they race specific? (All symbol-pattern recipes have been deity specific so far)

Second, why are there no aug slots, unlike every other piece of DoN cultural?

Third, the classes listed are wrong, given that ogres cannot be monks or rogues.

I believe they're cultural charms with varying levels of quality. That's whyt hey use symbol patterns (quality levels), despite being racial and not diety.

No aug slots... dunno, design decision or bug.

Classes - probably just templated, no real harm done.

Well, technically, the DoN cultural armour is the exact same thing... cultural armour with varying levels of quality. So if they had added to the armour pattern book instead, (using the same racial components for that tier to create), they would have maintained consistency.

By using the symbol patterns, and yet making them racially specific, they've created a new paradigm. I sure hope the racial-specific nature is accomplished via a glaze or some such, rather than requiring that the potter be the race of the charm they are making...

I can only hope the lack of aug slots is a bug.

Ah, true (re: armor vs symbol) - just a matter of where the quality levels come in. With the symbols, it was the book/pattern; with the armor it was some of the later components. Probably just a design decision then - they wanted further interest in the symbol quests, rather than the standard armor quest with some further farming. Or something like that, anyway.

we are defenitely considering this already (had considered it a bit ago, but could not get it in for this patch)
Third, the classes listed are wrong, given that ogres cannot be monks or rogues.
I just didnt think about it... All physical no mater the race have the same classes... all spiritual... etc...
This is where I was working with something that had already been started, and one of the first things I did... so I may have missed a few details since I was still learning the system and that learning may have caused me to miss a few details

                          Redi is basically correct.

Yes the others were done by diety... this is racial, and it was just the best place to fit it and not require you guys to get 4 MORE books you have to keep in inv... etc... this was me considering NOT adding too much to the "more items to keep around" and it fit best to go with the symbol patterns.
