  • Skill Level Restrictions

I was just wondering ifPottery has had a skill level restriction lifted like it has forTinkering...with tinkering as soonas you hit 16 you can skill up to GM if you got the plat. Also wondering if some one can explain to a relative newb her how the skill up work with out all the brain cramps of the calculations or if there is a nice spreadsheet i can use to poke in the stats "I" have and get an idea of my chances ( I do not have a lot of plat and not anyway close to maxing out a stat and do not foresee it happening soon)...Thanks in advance...

You could actually GM pottery at level 1 if you wanted to and had the resources. Its one of the cheapest ones to get started in also.

Mastering Pottery with 30 pp Guide is an excellent resource to tell you how to get started. You have all the supplies handy in PoK now too so it could be done safely at a low level. As an alternative, if you have GoD, do the freebie quests up to whatever they are (mid 50s I think) before you start on the mastering guide.

The quick and simple explainations on the skill ups is that, the higher your primary stat (int / wis in this case), the higher you chance of skill up. You can go here for a quick and easy calculator. Look at your base stat vs a base stat of 255 to see the difference. This doesn't mean that you shouldn't attempt it at a lower primary stat but you could buy some decent ish wis gear for just a few hundred pp. Just get the best primary stat you can before you get started.

One change I'd make to that guide (maybe it was already changed, I haven't read it in a while) is to skill up to 54 in Abysmal (if you have GoD). You can get that high for free, and it only takes a bit of time. Then move on to the combines as the guide suggests.
