  • Concerned about POP Pottery

As a grandmaster potter, I've kept an eye on the PoP recipes and watched as the new items and their stats make the list. Overall I'm pleased with what we have.

I am concerned, however, at the component list. More specifically I'm concerned because the components that we require for our pottery items are the same componenets that are required for other tradeskill items which have a MUCH higher demand.

The tier one stuff isn't too bad as far as competition goes. Frankly, the demand for these items is next to nil, so they don't really matter. Starting with the Valor shield, however... Who else in this game other than potters know that metallic liquid is used in a pottery recipe?

Metallic liquid is for the JC ring, period. You'll have a hard time finding any liquid for sale, and every character in a group is going to want a shot at any of these that drop (And they're quite an uncommon drop).

Add to this the fact that a ring of valor requires one metallic liquid. A shield of valor requires TWO... I think you guys can see where I'm going here.

Just saw the incense burner today. Very nice little item. Quite marketable. Too bad that the mephit blood is also used for the planar armor...

Don't know if there's anything to be done about this, but I thought I'd voice my concern.

Average pc on metallic liquid is 15k on Karana. 2 liquids = 30k.
That mean if you want to sell that shield you either need to farm liquid yourself or sell that shield for 50k+.
I dont sure if anyone will buy it for 50k really, so that shield is good only if someone will give you 2 metallic liquids and ask you to make combine for you.

The problem isn't necessarily with the recipes, its that they put no thought into the drops rates.

Obviously they don't want a zillion of these highend tradeskill items hitting the market, so they make the drops rare, sometimes painfully rare.

For metallic liquid they messed up. They should have made Razorfiend Talons the super rare drop and Metallic Liquid the less rare drop. That way people would have too many liquids and not enough talons, in which case some liquids would start going to the pottery item.

Same with Alkaline Etched Stones. They should have made glittering rings/crystallized cloudy eyes and grallok quartz the rare component and the stones less rare since that is the one component shared by 2 recipes and the other components aren't.

The list goes on and on of these kind of messed up drop rates. I mean look what happened with the Nightmare Bow.. all the silk went to making the bow rather than any going toward maybe making some of the tailoring stuff. Now everyone has a bow that wants one and this isn't a problem, but all Sony had to do was make some component exclusive to the bow like the shaft thingie the super rare component and everything would have be fine.

Doesn't really hurt me as much, I'm a grandmaster in most of the trades so I just make whatever sells the best.
