Need help

I have a level 60 rogue and have been working on her poison making. Her skill is 246 and tried a combine that is trivial at 252 and got the message "You are too inexperienced in your craft to even consider attempting this combination."

The combine was for Bite of the Shissar X. I have double checked my ingredients for the combine and they are just as listed in the recipe section.

Has something changed where you can't make a poison until it is near trivial? My skill is 246 but with trophy is is 265.

I get the same result with Strike of Ssraeshza X which is trivial at 258

One of the more experienced Poison Makers would be able to give a more complete answer, but in a nutshell, a number of the poisons have all bought materials, and as a result would be too easy to use as a fast skill up method. Due to this, those specific poisons are skill limited, requiring you to have skill equal to, or even a couple points above, the trivial before you are able to make them.

Similar poisons involving dropped components are not skill limited in this way.

Thanks for the reply. Although the ingredients that I used are drops, I found that they are also found at vendors. I will make sure to skip those recipies in the future when I am trying to skill up.

what the others said was correct, Ngreth set it so that you cannot make those poisons unless you already have the triv. My question is what to do now. I have read various threads, and guess I am coming in after a nerf or something so not all the info seems accurate. My situation is this: I have an unmodded skill of 286, modded I get to 308 or something. I spent about 3 hrs farming Scorpikis poison in OT, and the 400 poisons were sufficient for 200 combines, which got me the 11 pts from 275. Now, do I need to continue farming there and/or head to CoD to farm the stuff from there? or is there an easier path? In one of the threads on safehouse, it was mentioned that you could do the DPS DD poisons using storebought ingredients. However, they all seem to triv at 260, which I guess was a Ngreth move in order to prevent lvling from them. Any info would be appreciated.

It may not be as workable for you, but as a long term Spell Researcher, I had so many stacks of Sulfur on my storage mules that I simply handed a ten slot backpack of sulfur to my Rogue and levelled his Poison Making from 275 (where Spirit of Sloth ended) to 300 (with Spine Rend) in a few hours, plus a substantial amount of progression through his final trophy evolution.

Sulfur simply seemed to drop frequently enough as I levelled that I had a very sufficient supply for my own needs. I would assume that something that common would be fairly available in the Bazaar, although due to how many different tradeskills it is used in (Spell Research, Poison Making, and Tinkering are the ones that come to mind), I cannot say what might be charged for it.
