  • Master Poison Maker

Well, this past week, I geared up for a large number of combines (about 300) to finally get my skill maxed out. Got some help from someone in my guild, who supplied me with advanced poison vials (thanks again Lez!) and made the rest myself. Sunday, after a guild raid, I was ready for my run. Point number 294 came quite slow, but after that, it picked up nicely, and I finished in around 200 combines (I didn't count them. I had about 100 combines worth of stuff left over.)

With great pleasure, I give you:

You have become better at Poison Making (300).

Now to get my rogue up to level 59, so he can pick up the Poison Mastery AAs.

      300 is cake

you can get 275 vendor bought, then just goto plane of tranquility and vendor dive for phosphorous power and crystalized sulfer from PoI.

Make the advanced poison vials and suspension and goto town. 50K at most.

Hell I stopped bothering with it at 290 since more didn't effect the outcome of combines anymore. I did it for augments. 290-300 augments only =)

For those who look for a "different" way to go from 275-300: After checking the trivials and success rates for augments, I stopped senseless training runs for poison combines (I had to sell the poison, I had no space left and no coffin bottle to stack the poisons). For augment combines (trivial 327) it does not make any difference in success (capped at 95%) as soon as you have a make poison skill of 276 + 5%! Sure it is nice to reach 300 skill but there is no need for speed here. So I simply changed my strategy: I carry two bags full of vials and poison stuff and keep my blades poisoned 100% of the time when fighting. I get about 2 skillups every 3 nights I play, every pp I spend is converted into dps and it does feel a lot better than standing in front of a vendor, hitting the combine button hundreds of times (there are enough other tradeskills left for that experience).

I made scoriae bite. Hundreds upon hundreds of combines (I'd say 1200 or so combines from when the previous recipe trivialed and hitting 300. Didn't keep good records on what I spent though.) A guildie helped me out greatly by making advanced poison vials. We were raiding some of the places where Phso powder dropped, and I bought a lot more.

I'd say it was about 50K, 0 to 300, but that's just a rough guess.

Would have been easier if I had been able to use the coffin bottles, because they return the advanced poison vials. Making the advanced poison vials was the biggest snag (it's a real PITA to make them.)

Ding 300 Make Poison (and also 300 Pottery) on Vazaelle, Sept. 17th 2005. 275 - 300 Make Posion took me less than 500 combines the way I did it (see post above). Got the last two incs while combining three Mind Melts for sale in baz...

                Gratz Mitsune!

Now to get my (not so) baby rogue past 284. I was able to go on a PoF raid, and got Eyerazzia. So I went ahead and got the GMAS. This is the biggest time and money saver. I printed out a single sheet (it was front and back) of simple poison recipes. I looked for the ones that did not require sketches. Since the GMAS gives you back ten Advanced Poison Vials when you make a ten dose poison, and these recipes give you back the poison vial on a failure, you only need ten vials for the rest of your Make Poisons skill-ups.

                The recipies I used included:
                Bite of the Shissar
                Mangled Tendon
                Mayong's Bane
                Mental Burn
Mental Implosion (be careful, the third recipe might not return the vials)
                Oozing Irritation
                Scoriae Bite
                Spine Rend

These will all need the following sub-combines:
                Drop of Mercury
Celestial Essence (use The Scent of Marr fpr this, as it's sold in PoK by Loran Thu`Leth)
                Celestial Suspension

From here on out, it's all vendor diving and farming! Hope everyone can use this!

Ding 300 poison making on my rogue alt, Maerie Sidious on FV. I went with scoriae bite all the way, since crystallized sulphur is now in very high demand for spell research combines.

DING! Dandxii on Xegony finally reached 300! I used scoriae bite also, since it's dropped parts can be easily vendor farmed. By my count, it took 688 combines between 292 and 300. The GMAS quest is a life saver, as it allowed me to use the same advanced vials over and over and reduce the costs. Have fun and see you in-game!

It's been a while since my little Rogue went to 300 but if I remember right, if you combine the single poison to 10 portions, you get the vials back. I found out by accident and never had to make a lot of vials, just recycled them. FYI.

That's a nice little benefit for the seal. Unfortunately, my rogue is too low to get it, so I had to make tons and tons of vials.

46 I think. You need to go to one of the planes to get a drop that's level restricted (think it's fear.)

Just a quick note. If you combine into 10 you get a no drop 10 shot poison and all your vials back. If you combine into 5 you get a droppable 5 shot version and your vials back. The droppable one sells to vendors for just under 100 pp allowing you to recover some of your cost
