Skill-up 0 to 198

Decided to fool around with JC. Bard with 243 dex, too lazy to go get a dex buff. Wis 117. 1140 attempts to 137 and about 2k plat. It is so nice just turning and buying ingredients instead of farming. gonna finish out later and will post more stats.

280 dex 143 wisdom from 137 to 198 took 1560 more combines for a total of 2700 combines. Out of pocket now about 4k. 194 - 198 is pure hell. Between 80-140 combines per skillup

Does DEX help with skillups? I thought it was just INT or WIS. Your low WIS is probably what's making it tough.

No. Not so. Urban-EQ-Legend.

Only your SKILL helps with successful combines.

Stats only impact rate at which you skill up.

I want to believe that dex helps (I am a Rogue and dex is easy to get but smarts aint so easy) but I have my doubts and here is why:

When you create a new character now you can click onto each stat and it tells you what it is good for (oh god why didnt they do this 4 years ago, but that is for a different thread). Str clearly states that it helps with smithing skill ups; Int and wis also states that it helps with trade skill level ups.. But Dex doesn't say anything about trade skills. This could be an oversite but who knows.

I chuckle to myself when I see my favorite chanter/jeweler shape change into a scarecrow before trying any difficult combines for me. Sure it is a waste of mana and is just as effective as holding onto her lucky stuffed froggy..

Unless my memory fails me, it says it helps with skill ups for fletching and poison making.

I sit corrected.. and that makes it more likely that it never went live.. could be the guy that made the statement at the FFare was wrong.
