  • very trivial combines - no fail.... plat making exploit?

I haven't gotten a chance to log on since patch, but in the patch message they talk about reducing the failure rate on trivial combines. Does this mean I can sit down and combine a bunch of enchanted silver bars (now that I can enchant 5 at a time) and rubies and turn a tidy little profit? Or did they nerf the purchase prices or sell back prices? Or were trivial jewelry combines exempt from the NoFail change?

Well if I remember correctly it was only ever with gold upwards that enchanting would turn you a profit; so maybe gold+gem is always sufficiently non-trivial to be unaffected by this new development.

Reports on the test server said combines that were trivial by more than 200 points were no fail. Requiring the user to enchant the metal to make a profit would still limit it since it is time consuming, and not as easily macroable, so they probably don't care about those.

The problem would be if there is a combine that trivs under 52 (geerlock maxed?) that is the slightest bit profitable using merchant purchased ingrediants directly. Some recipes were profitable, but the failure rate balanced it out long term.

As I recall (going off of memory here, LONG time since I'd done that low level of JC) the cheap gems and silver would, even when the bar was enchanted, cost you a few copper per combine.

So no, I'd say that there isn't any 52 or under triv combine that you could make money off of due to the infallability code.

The failure rate on gold and plat are still too high for it to be overall profitable. You might get lucky a few times, but you'll lose money over the long haul.

Once Jewelcraft mastery is put into place you may be able to turn a slight profit due to low failure rate. At the rate in which you could make platinum....would not be worth the effort to do.

            Just my coppers worth.

I'd have to go back and check to make sure, but I'm pretty sure there's a small profit anytime you enchant the metal. Your margin would be so small on sub 52 combines it wouldn't be worth the effort though.

When I skilled up on gold and platinum, I consistantly made a profit with enchanted metal, it just takes a while due to mana regen.
