  • Champagne Magnums - BAD idea for skillups

I tried 2 stacks of these tonight with skill of 191 and I can tell you this is a bad idea - while cost per attempt is lower than gold + fire opal, (28pp vs 62 or so) there is only resale IF you make demi-sec champagne (used in EoS quest) and IF players will buy it from you. One of the reasons I have liked jewelcraft so much is that as long as you dont have too many failures, you can just sell then end product and buy more supplies right there, which you really can't in the high end of other crafts. I made 2 stacks worth and got about 25 of 40 successes - not terrible if I resell them, but otherwise, I tied up about 750 in tradeskill cash pending sales.

I thought I'd be clever and do these to bridge from 191 to 196. I did 10 stacks for 3 skillups, and still have 8 stacks of magnums. I've been thinking about temporarily crashing the Demi-Sec market on my server just to dump these bloody things, but I'm not that desperate for cash or space. Yet.

    Magnums for skill-ups=bad idea.

I guess I was lucky cuz I made demi-sec champagnes to increase my brewing from 248 to 250. I was able to increase my skill in JC from 191 to 196 making the magnums using 3 stacks and at the same time increase brewing to 250. Heh after that I sold all the demi-secs that I made for like 50pp each.

I did them, simply because I knew I would be using them for brewing instead of those god awful mino hero brews.
