Cheap fire opals?

I saw that fire opals can be bought from Genni in temple of Solusek Ro for 550gp each, one at a time. Are these the same fire opals used in JC or are they special quest gems? Will she take plat or only 550gp? Can one buy multiple fire opals off her or must you buy, make stuff, sell, and buy again?

She will take 55 plat (as opposed to 550 gold). Can't speak from personal experience as to whether you can buy more than one at a time, but I think I've heard you can (and they are just like any other fire opal -- I believe originally this was the only way to get fire opals).

But they're only cheap if your CHA is less than 105 -- with best charisma and faction, fire opals are 52.5 pp. If you're going to be buying more than a few of these, your money may be better spent on a couple of opal encrusted steins.

Thanks for the info Velurian. I already have 2 opal encrusted steins and I just want to find a cheap place to get fire opals for use skilling up in JC.

Question about your post... you say one needs LOW cha to get them cheap from her? This seems a touch counter-intuitive. Perhaps you could explain that a bit more.

He was saying that people with high CHA can buy Fire Opals cheaper elsewhere.

Thus, if you have CHA < 105, Genni might be your best bet for cheaper fire opals. But if CHA > 105, then you'll do better buying them in Freeport or other place where they are merchant sold.

Yep, hehe, I remember when the merchant (name escapes me at the moment) in the North Freeport ban started selling fire opals, breaking Genni's monopoly on this gem. Shortly after Luclin was launched if my recollection is correct.

Now if only someone besides Zordak Ragefire would sell the imbue fire opal spell, hehe...
