mounted Gem trivial increased?

Today attempted to mount 6 black sapphires and 2 diamonds for a GM trophy with JC skill 163. Failed all of them, and got a skillup.

has anyone else tried to mount gems lately? we've bugged it. I checked here and in the quest boards, but did not see any other news taht this triv may have been incraesed.


Sorry if I broke some rules about cross-posting on a corss-tradeskill issue, but I wanted to reach the biggest audience. I know the JC boards aren't as active as others, and if this has changed in game, it affects all tradeskillers. Could you lock this one, and unlock the post on the general board, please?

200 skill level at JC. Mounted two diamonds, got two successes. Tried to mount five black sapphires in a row, failed all of them. Lost 3500 in about 30 seconds. :P

Were the diamond successes trivial at 200?

I did all four stones for my baking trophy only a week or so ago and didn't fail any. I THINK they were all trivial still - I know they were the first time I did my trophy a month or two ago for sure because I posted to update the trivial info.

Prior to April 5, we had mounted all 4 gems at 162 JC, and all were trivial. We never failed. We tried for another trophy on April 5, and at least the black sapphires and diamonds were no longer trivial.

Can anyone else confirm that post April 5, 2003, mounted gems for GM trophies have had their trivial raised above 100?

Are you sure you were using two velium bars (and unstacked, as well)? You wouldn't be the first to burn off your money trying to make velium jewelry rather than mounted gems, I've done it at least once myself.

Oh dear. I think you may have it, Yalum. Doing the math, we bought 8 bars of velium, and did 8 combines. grrrrrr.

Yup, confirming that you can add us (me and Emmoney) to the list of folks who've burned some time and plat trying to make velium jewely while trying to mount gems.

I have 149 JC + geerlok and have made several artisan seals, failing only one mounting combine (and no seal combines). I wouldn't doubt they raised the trivial to be honest. Let's put it this way, I know that I have made at least 5 seals. That is 21 combines with only one failure. This would be incredibly unlikely on an item that is >200 trivial.

I've gone 100% success rate at 235 with geerlok on every subcombine but the kiln.
