  • PoTC Quest Nerfed?

Failure rate on the jewelling and tailoring section of this quest appears to have gone way up.

Normally I get 10 successes out of 20 on the gem studded chain combine - as of 15th Feb its down to 3 out of 20. This was going so badly I camped, zoned and did a little dance in the middle - no change - still dire success rate. This was for JC 250, int 255 with GM jewellers trophy.

Friend of mine who does the tailoring bit has the same. Down from 50% success rate to zero on the final solstice robe combine. She is 220 tailor with geerlock and 255 wisdom

    Anyone else?

I went 4/6 last night. Seemed normal. No AA's either.

Gem Studded Chain combines have not been nerfed. Just stroke of bad luck. I have failed 5 trivial combines in a row so anything is possible.

A guild friend with 250 JC+geerlock, int 280 or more, lvl65 chanter made 5 out of 5 chains for me few days ago.

I have gone 7/30 at my worst streak and 11/12 on my best.... it is a matter of luck. I promise no nerf was done to the sucess rate.

I've failed to cut three cakes in a row with a 200+ baking, I've had half of a potential stack of metal bits fail to combine at 175 smithing, I've lost 8 Thurg gate potions in a row to a combo of the wheel and the kiln at equal to trivial - RNG happens.

No more EQ for me till they fix the crash bug.

            Gem encrusted chain

My chanter is 250 JC plus Geerlok. When she attempts to combine for the gem-encrusted chain (anyplace except Shadowhaven) she averages 50% success. :?

In Shadowhaven, it's 0 for ... hmm, how many times did I try there? 15 or 30, spread over several days. ops:

Might be a weird streak on the part of the RNG, or who knows. Anyhow, I started inviting folks to meet me for that combine in other places besides Shadowhaven.

            Just too weird.

You weren't attempting those combines in Shadowhaven by any chance were you? Or does the zone just dislike me? ops:

With 250 skill, a grandmaster jeweler's eyeglass, and Jewelcraft Mastery3 I only fail maybe 1 in 20. I even did a run of 48 without a single fail (I got a few, oohs and aahs for that one.)

At first, I considered that to be just a fluke, so I went and made a few hundred, in different zones and on different days, and failure rate seemed consistent around 5%.

Which, I find rather odd. From what I hear from other jewelcrafters, with 250 skill and a %5 bonus item of some sort, they fail about 50% of the time. JCM3 is only supposed to reduce failure rate by 50%, so I'd expect to fail one out of four... but either jcm3 is *alot* more effective than it claims to be, I'm the luckiest jewelcrafter that I've ever seen by far, or I'm completely out of my mind (which, is feasible at this point...)

Without aa's, I'm usually at 50% in the long run

                    Check out this thread:
                    http://mboards.eqtraders.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1715&start=20

To sum it up, JC2 seems to make chains anywhere between 82-97(95)% success combines. and 95% with JCM3. So the 50% reduction in failure is probably applied over the whole 100%. So if you were failing 55% with out it you would be failing 5% with it.

Thats just how i read the data. who knows how it really works.
