Lower trivial on mounted gem combines?

The current trivial listed for mounted gems is 105<x=<122. However, I successfully combined a mounted diamond last night with skill of exactly 100, and got a trivial message.

It's possible (though hopefully unlikely) I was hallucinating; it's also possible, I guess, that the trivials might be different for each gem. I will attempt to verify this tonight with the other gems, in any case.

Yup, I've confirmed it; went 4/4 on the various mounted gem combines at 100 unmodified skill, and all were trivial.

With any luck my roomie's chanter who's JCing can help narrow this also. (the luck being us managing to get enough money for the required metal AND finding the gems in the first place. ^_^)

I just now (2003-03-21) did a successful combine for Diamond and Black Sapphire with a skill of only 60 and both were trivial to me.

I'm now 12 successes on 12 attempts with mounted gems at a skill of 60.
3 Blue diamond, 3 diamond, 3 black sapphire, and 3 jacinith.

12 for 12 suggests that the trivial is a lot lower than 60.

Bump. Mounted gems are listed in the database as having a trivial less than 100, but this thread says it's less than 60, and probably a lot less.

ok tweaked the mounting down to 60 upper limit...

But why someone wants to put 500 plat per combine I don't understand the willingness to risk...

I realize my observation is going to be speculation until I grow the Kahunas to try this with skill 0 but I have a hunch it may be No Fail. I combined over 60 mounted gems with a 98 skill and I havn't failed yet.

Can anybody actually confirm failing on a mounted gem?

I can state it will Fail...

Had a 250 Jewelcrafter try and failed making the Mounted Jacinth.

I just tried my first four combines at 120 skill + 5% geerlok, one of each gem type. Succeeded on 3 and failed on the jacinth. Definitely not no-fail.
