Jewelcraft going from 196 to 300

Is there an easy method to go from 196 to 300? By that I mean where you don't have to enchant this or that (my enchanter is stopped at 49). I am at a bit of a loss what will be the least time consuming way to get this done.

It probably depends on if you've collected any uncut gems or how much platinum you have to sink into it. I just took a character from 200 to 300 with a 7/7 trophy a couple weeks ago. I mostly followed the quick trivial list and ran through stacks of uncut gems and shimmering nihilite i've hoarded over the years. There's also practice jewelry, raw faycite crystals are pretty easy to find if you have the faction to check vendors in SoF zones. The " practice" version does not require enchanting.

Your advice was extremely helpful. I found the uncut gems in the bazaar. It will get me to 287. The shimmering nihilite is a good idea, however, there are few of these in the bazaar. But getting to 287 might be enough that working on the jewelry part of making HoT weapons might push it along to 300. I know out in Kod'Taz the mobs will drop raw shimmering nihilite. If you have any further advice let me know.

Shimmering Nihilite drops wider than KT, it's just not common anywhere. I actually find most of mine via vendor diving. The nice thing is 1 raw will get you at least 2 to work with...if you've done the AS quests and done it enough, you'll get 3 consistently. Another thing to look for is prestidigitase, harmonagates, extruded underfoot diamonds, Miragestone and Taaffite. Uncommon to find them on vendors, but under 7pp each if you do run across them. Cut, these sell back to vendors nicely (exception is extruded underfoot diamonds, they don't sell back well, but they're super cheap to start with). Successes with the practice jewelry sells back at only a small loss per - problem is eating the 41pp loss on the mold plus the 105pp loss on the platnium bar if you fail.

I am at 272 now. I got a couple of raw amber nihilite. However, when i went to combine it in a jewelry device, I was told I lack the knowledge to work with this material. The recipe looks to be around SoF? What am I missing?

You need to take the raw Nihilites to Absymal Sea and turn them into one of the jewelry vendors - she'll refine them and hand you two back. You can also do a quest so that you can refine them yourself - you'll get two for a while, then two with the occassional 3 and then 3 consistently.
