  • I'm Cheap

    OK, so I am super cheap, and I want to max out my JC without spending over 10k!

    From what I can tell, you go with the various cheap gem cuts until you max out with tril topaz at 182.

    Then you just put on your /buyer and set up a buy for just about all of the uncut/whatever gems that no one ever has a buyer up for and eventually you do these cheapo combines until you're at 300!

    Please correct me if I'm wrong.

      Upper end JC leveling

      At the upper end (275+) when gems to cut get scarce, buy Raw Faycite Crystals from the DSH vendors and make practice dwerium jewelry.

        There is another option other than the uncut that a lot of people ignore. Set up a buyer to buy all four Nihilite (Raw Amber, Raw Crimson, Raw Indigo and Raw Shimmering).

        You do need to use the GoD raw material conversion (you did that quest in Abysmal Sea years ago, right?) and start converting. With max coversion rate (achieved after 400 conversions) you will be getting three Nihilite from each combine:

        The first three are cheap, but the Raw Shimmering I typically have to aet at 100pp to get people to sell them to me, but that was a few years ago. Even so, 3 combines over 300 is still WAY cheap.

          As stated above the easiest way are the uncut gems, Raw gems and the raw faycite crystals. I setup a buyer a few months back and within a month or so i had enough gems to max out JCing including maxxing trophy. bought all the stuff for less then 5pp each except the raw shimmering nihilite which i paid 20pp each for.

            As I gather, the old jewelcrafting recipes for non enchanted metals still work. With them, you can go all the way up to Platinum+Ruby for skill 279. The jewelry sells back to vendors for about 90% of what you paid for it. So when you're making Platinum+Ruby your cost is about 23p per attempt when you succeed (235p when you fail though).

            If you skim the trivial list with your trophy equipped, your failure rate should only be 5%.

            Only do through the platinum. Don't do the velium as that sell back rate is really bad and the trivials aren't really a whole lot higher.

            If you're not running my inventory program and want to see a list of trivials, look at http://www.eq-manager.com/sample.htm and click 'Recipes' in the upper right corner.

              another thought for you

              If you have a druid (or wizard), go vendor diving for nihilites. They are cheap, and I can usually pick up a few of each on a diving run. I am a 66 druid (with FoE for speed and levitation), so I usually start at the Steppes port and check vendors in zones near the druid rings. Raw Faycite is cheap also, as is scale ore (for palladium). I will occasionally find some chronal resonant dust (for temporite).
              My Path:
              The Steppes (3 vendors, druid ring, druid spells, and ranger spell vendors);
              Icefall Glacier (2 vendors, shaman and beastlord spell vendors);
              ring back to steppes and run to the Gor Mesa vendors (wizard and bard spell-song vendors);
              run to Sunderock and check 4 vendors (augment, cleric, paladin, and melee spell-tome vendors); then run up the mesa to the mage spell vendor;
              Direwind Cliffs has druid port and necro & SK spell vendors;
              Port to Arcstone and check those vendors;
              then port to Buried Sea, check the druid port vendor; egress/evac to pirate camp and check the vendor there, then swim to Katta Castrum and check 3 vendors there (augment, wizard ports, and general vendors);
              etc etc thru my ports...I usually skip the old world druid ports, I don't usually see many items on those vendors.
