  • getting started

Hello all.. I havnt played EQ in about 6 years give or take. I have a lvl 13 enchanter who would like to start jewelry crafting. I bought a kit and some gems, I enchanted some silver bars. I put them in the experiment area of my kit and it said " you can not combine these items in this container type. IM not sure where to go now. I have been reading up on this sight in crafting and through these forums and i can find an easy step by step way to get started. It may very well be here and i missed it, but i cant find it.

Could someone direct me, or give me a few steps to get me going, because im not sure where to go next. thanks

Yet another victim of the Jewelcraft change..

Basically the last expansion dramatically changed the way Jewelcraft works.

The old recipes of metal bar + gem no longer work for enchanted bars. They DO work for plain unenchanted bars for skillup purposes.

The stat jewelery is now made by making a <metal> trio <piece> (e.g. Electrum Trio Earring) and inserting augments (which are also made by jewelcrafting). The "Jewelcraft Summary Spreadsheet" lists the trivials for these augments. Searching the database or scanning the quick trivial list for the silver and electrum trio pieces should get you started there. Note that both silver and electrum have no minimum level, but gold+ do - while there is probably some market for the Electrum pieces I don't think silver can really be sold to players.

Oh - look up Nihilite in the database to find info on the quest to learn how to convert it. That quest will get you to about 54 for free, and you may as well do it now.

So do the Nihilite quest to get to 54, at which point I think making a mix of unenchanted jewelery, electrum trio settings, and round cut augments might be best - you can probably sell some electrum trio stuff and type 10 augments for twinks but not too much, and the unenchanted jewelery might have better sell back to merchants (but I don't know). And while you're at it get one of the lower tiers of the Jeweler's Trophy which is cheaper to make now and will level up with you.
