  • New Jewelcrafting Summary (for non Jewelcrafters)

I made this summary for my guild since I was getting a lot of questions. May be useful here.

    New Jewelcrafting Summary

(all info from EQ Traders forums)

Each Piece consists of two parts the setting and the gem(s).

Settings are made with enchanted silver, electrum, gold, platinum, velium, palladium or dwerium. Using a higher base metal will increase the stats.

Palladium is jewelcrafted using scale ore (forage/drop) and gnomish heat source (vendor).
Dwerium is jewelcrafted using raw faycite crystals (drop), platinum bar (vendor) and gnomish heat source (vendor).

Rings, earrings, necklaces, veils and bracelets can be made with one, two or three gem slots.

One slot settings can take one type 11 gem.

Two slot settings can take one type 11 gem and one type 10 gem. They cannot be the same gem.

Three slot settings can take one type 11 gem and two type 10 gems. All the gems must be different.

This link shows the different gem cuts and the resultant types and stats. http://www.editgrid.com/user/kyroskrane/Jewelcrafting

Settings are combined with the gems in the birdbaths, just like augs, and can be done by anyone.

    WARNINGS:
Currently (11/21/07) the combine in the birdbath makes an ATTUNED item that you cannot see the stats until equipped, like a charm, and like a charm the link will not show stats. So if giving to an alt, it's recommended that you give the separate settings and gems to the alt and have them combine it. This may change in the future.

The gems can be removed with a solvent but if already attuned they will still be no drop. Be careful not to stack them with non-attuned ones or they will convert the stack to no drop.

Note that there are no type 7 or 8 aug slots as in dropped jewelry.

Also currently there are no recommended or required levels but I wouldn't be surprised if that changes.

    Some examples:

    Dwerium Trio Ring
    Attunable
    Class: ALL
    Race: ALL
    Fingers

    AC 19, HP 350 Mana 350 End 350 Str/Agi/Dex/Cha 23 All resists 23

    Slot 1, type 10: Round Cut Emerald (100 mana/end)
Slot 2, type 11: Marquise Cut Taaffeite (250 hp/mana/end + all the other stats)
Slot 3, type 10: Round Cut Opal (100 hp)

    Silver Solo Ring
    Attunable
    Class: ALL
    Race: ALL
    Fingers

    Faerune

Slot 1, type 11: Pear Cut Star Ruby

Good writeup. You should add there's another bug regarding attuneable augs.

If you put any aug into any item, the aug becomes attuned. No message, no confirmation, nothing! If you are giving to your alt or selling them, don't insert any augs, let the intended owner insert the augs themselves.

Also i f you have a stack of unattuned aug and you auto inventory attuned aug, the whole stack becomes attuned. Likewise if you have attuned and you cut new augs and use auto inventory, the new augs will be stacked with attuned augs and themselves become attuned.

If you plan to sell or transfer augs to other toon, keep those stacks separate!! I've lost 4 cut opal this way but it can be worse, a stack of taaffeite can cost you a couple hundred Kpp's

You can leave out the vendor and shared bank stuff now, it's not an issue now that the gems are attuneable (at least for any gems inserted after the patch).
And repeating again, augments becoming attuned when you insert them is not a bug. That is by design, and is in the definition of attuneable. That message that pops up that says "Are you sure you want to insert this augment" is your warning.

Although augments getting attuned when inserted is part of the augment system, Ngreth has stated this is not the intent for JC, at least not for all the gems. The attunable thing was just a quick-and-dirty stopgap fix to prevent people from losing their entire bank contents until they could come up with a better solution. Hopefully, we'll have something more elegant soon.

Ah missed that the attunable flag was the fix for the bank/vendor issue, thanks. I think the problem with no drop gems stacking with droppable and converting the stack is a bug unique to JC since regular augs don't stack. But as KyrosKane said, that will also hopefully be solved with whatever final solution they come up with. Edited Warning paragraph.

Oh, it turns out it also nicely prevents the crash when selling an augmented JC item to a vendor -- since if it's augmented, it becomes no-drop and can't be sold.
