Shimmering Nihilite?

    Shimmering Nihilite?

    The book from the JC vendor mentions Shimmering Nihilite being a Trilion Cut gem. I tried to cut this with every cut tool with and without a Jeweler's Glass in Collapsible/Reinforced/Standard Jeweler's Kits and got DNC every time.

    I did NOT try it in a planar kit. Does anyone happen to know if it will cut in a planar kit?

    Tied with this, Raw Pale and Raw Shimmering Nihilite are dropping in Torden, The Bastion of Thunder... so it seems they have made it on the global loot table. Is the book in error, the loot table, or am I borking the combine by not doing it in a Planar Kit? Oh, last option, "woops" on the recipe not making it into live?

    Same discussion in anothe thread, but will comment anyway.

    Combine the raw items (nothing else) in JC kit. This will remov ethe raw tag. Then you should be able to do combines as if they were any other gem.

      Thanks for your comment, Gorse. When I posted I didn't see another thread related to this issue, my apologies for being the world's 2nd worst message board searcher. (I'll recheck my display xxx threads options.)

      Sorry if I wasn't clear. I'm not having a problem converting from raw to refined form, though some folk seem to have that problem. I'm not able to get a Shimmering Nihilite to cut to a Trilion Cut Shimmering Nihilite. Perhaps after the patch Ngreth mentioned. Of course, I could be the only one with this problem, in which case I'm doing something wrong and will eventually figure it out. Or, perhaps it's the mixed stack of shimmering (pre-SoF vs post-SoF refining) that I just didn't pick the right ones from the stack. Or any number of things that I have no clue about. I will wait and see what happens. Was just curious if anyone else noticed this and could help me get on track.

      Going back to spell research to see if I can beat Eanelder on releasing that info on GMEPalladium. (Not betting on it, but ... gonna try)

        According to a post in the Database thread, you need to do this quest: http://www.eqtraders.com/articles/ar...r=120037000000 to refine the other forms of Nihilite.

        Not sure why, but there it is. Gonna try it myself now.

          I just tried to get the quest mentioned in that link...

          I was told 'Thank you for your assistance. You have done enough to earn my gratitude. Speak with Glirina and she will show you the secret of preparing both Pale and Shimmering nihilite. Be certain to mention to her all of the [work] you have done for us.'

          I went and told Glirina "work" and she gave me the standard response that I got when I finished her tasks...

          And I still can't refine the Raw Indigo Nihilite.

            Are you using a Reinforced Jeweler's Kit to do the refining?

            That combine *only* works in the reinforced kit. I remember cursing softly as I killed my 479th Turepta in Natimbi trying to get the stupid shell piece to get that kit.

            Planar / Collapsible / regular kits are no good.

              I am having the exact same problem as Angelsyn.

              I can refine raw shimmering nihilite to shimmering nihilite just fine but I cannot refine the raw amber nihilite I have. I get the standard cannot combine in this container message when I try. I have tried Crescent Reach, PoK and Abysmal Sea.

              I have made many of the new jewelcraft items and know fairly well how it all works but I cannot cut the shimmering nihilite even though it is in the refined form. Again I get the standard cannot combine in this container message.

              I did the freebie quest to get the ability to refine nihilite after the new JC went live. I get the same response from Rilwind that she does. He basically treats me as if I finished his quest.

              My JC skill is 288 and I have a JC trophy.

                Ditto, I did the freebie quest first, guess I should have done the collections one instead, so when I went to do collections it wouldn't let me, basically said I had already done it, when I know I never have. /shrug

                  Indigo and Amber will not be working until the next patch. Pale should make Crimson.

                  I will have to poke around a bit more to be sure I have it all straightened out (I got some bugs from QA on my fixes...)

                  As in my thread above, I basically broke Nihilite and I am not even sure what is working right now.

                  The quests set character flags and those should still be valid (I am using the same flag) once I straighten everything out.

                        Not denying your difficulty, but I was able to successfuly refine raw crimson nihilite in a reinforced jewelers kit... between big patch and emergency patch at 1pm pacific.

                        I do have 120 or so pale nihilite that I would love to be able to convert tho

                          Hmmm, I did the nihilite conversion quest wayyy back. do I have to redo it? or is it expanded?

                          All i got was that I could not combine in that container type.

                          Do they now require gnomish heat source?

                          I'm cornfused.

                            should not have to redo the quest either. Ngreth said it's using the same flag. Can't remember where off the top of my head.
                            no gnomish heat source, or anything else, just the raw <mynew> nihilite in a reinforced jewelers kit.
