Jewelcrafting - Is it useless @ 300?

Hi. I've been away from EQ for a good 9 months (just came back on Sunday night). I've noticed the changes to JC with the patch today, but I have a few very newbie questions:

1. Is JC useless at 300?

2. Are all the TS maximums going up from 300 with this patch?

3. What kind of changes are there to JC with the patch, as far as making things that people would want?

4. Any suggestions what TS's to work on next, considering JC nearly wiped out my bank account? My current levels are below.

Uncertain. The changes are just now going live today, we do not know the full impact.

Baking and brewing are cheap to raise. Smithing and tailoring are doable with farming the new cultural. Refer to the Complete Tradeskill Guide in the guides section for what to make.

Tradeskill is what you make of them and have benefits other than just making plat in the bazaar. Are you sure you are in the right forum?

2. Are all the TS maximums going up from 300 with this patch?

No. No trade skill caps are bring raised with the SoF patch.

3. What kind of changes are there to JC with the patch, as far as making things that people would want?

It will give you more felxibility in what you can make. The higher end draps will still be required for the higher end items. And now there is a new Enchanted Paladium metal (enchanter AA). If you want specifics, either test, or watch the submissions forum.

My suggestion would be to watch your server economy and supply the demands. You will have to figure out the methods that work best for you to make money while skilling up. Sometimes it jsut takes some luck to find a nitch and make some plat. Before the patch JC was easy to max (albiet not real cheap), those days are gone, but there are almost always skill up options that are very cheap (albiet time consuming from farming etc). Like I said, find what works for you. I typically try not to "wipe out" my bank on a single project, you never know when you are going to stumble into a spot where having a little plat could make you a lot.

1. You can probably find someone that needs JC combines for sunshard pebbles or ore. or....

4. Work on tailoring, smithing or fletching and put your JC to work on sunshard combines when you get to the level that those are appropriate combines. Conveniently, as other easy sources of combines start to peter out, sunshard combines become more viable/economical.
