Ok I am a Magician with a skill of 250 in JC + a Geerlock. I have failed on that blasted Trophy 7 times. My int is 280 and I got kei after the first 2 failures. Well...
Can you say bad luck

From my understanding of tradeskills, INT doesn't play any role in determining whether you are successful at making something. It's all based on your skill level + geerlock bonus.
Wow, that is a run of bad luck!! I managed to get my trophy with 240 skill plus geerlok on a 35 mage with 224 INT on the first try. I did follow a tip that I read when making the attempt. Dont' know if it always works, but the tip was to make trivial (or trivial when considering the geerlok) items until you have 4 or 5 failures, then try your trophy. The assumption is that the RNG has had its run and is now ready for success. Maybe an untruth, but it worked for me :P
I want to hear you got it on the 8th combine! Keep us posted.

Sorry to hear of your bad luck. I made my first two successfully with 255 int, 250 skill and a geerlock device. On another forum I did read that some stats above 255 max (post PoP) have had negative effects on successes while trying to raise skills. May be worth looking into.
