Jewelcraft Wish List...

I personally would like to see some way to melt down jewelry into their components for reuse it would make it a bit easier on the old pocket book. Also would like the ability to make settings then add stones as needed or to remove stones and replace with better ones, this IMHO would be sweet and really make Jewelcraft fly high.../grin.

I think it would be pretty cool if you could break down various tradeskill items into their component parts. I actually had a similar idea about 18 months ago in regards to tailoring: taking an Othmir/Holgresh/etc item and turning it back into hides.. my thought was that you end up with one less hide that the recipe uses (to account for the cutting/modification that has already been done). This would logically work with smithing and jewel craft as well, the others I don't really see as being feasible from a standpoint of base reality (I'm a cook, and while I have made minor tweaks to entrees, I've yet to be able to un-cook a steak).

I love the idea because to me it makes some sense, and also becuase it would give us more opportunities to get items to use for combines (especially since alot of the zones that the items needed for skill ups are hunted less and less). I also understand that the powers that be seem to be content with the current setup as far as opportunites for skillups run, and there is also the fact that those who enjoy the skills that would be left out (can you really un-brew a beer?) would be clamoring for something as well.

Tradeskill combines are balanced out with drop rates.... once you throw being able to use the same Hide or Blue Diamond to do 10 versions of the same combine you have just destroyed that balance.

Yes I know its hard to get some items cos places are not hunted any more.... well actually if its not hunted that means more mobs for you to hunt and less having to share the spawns with others!

There is a reason the higher triv items need dropped components and not totally vendor purchaced, this is to maintain the balance!

From a realistic point of view if you take a garment appart the pieces have already been cut to shape (try it with a shirt), thus making them back into another shirt is fairly easy.... (read: lower triv)
Jewlcraft - ok you take appart a ring or necklace... the gem has already been cut, so that part of the process is unreversable. Hence sticking it onto another ring is (i guess) easier!

Anyway, you can probably guess i am not a supporter of this idea, sorry!

I wish that all imbued gems were stackable to 100. Thanks to Ngreth for imbued emeralds to 100, but would like to see the rest to 100 also.

I am not sure about other imbues, but I know forsure imbued ivory stacks to 100. What ones are missing, for example?

How about an idea for making even higher end JC items by multiple combines. What made me think of this is that my mother has a ring that has a little setting for each of her kid's birthstones. Perhaps you take something like a Taaffeite (or some new gem) to make the basic ring. Then, with additional combines, you could add other gems to the piece to give it additional effects. The more effects, the higher the trivial, so that you could add as many as allowed in the rules but maybe the 7th effect you add has a trivial of 428, where the first has like a 350. You could add stats, resists, stun resist, combat foci, etc. Or to simplify it, different combines add an aug slot or two.
