  • Jewelcrafting for different cut question

    Is there anyone who can explain to me how to make the new cut jewelry? The half moon, pear cut, etc. I looked up the recipie on EQtraders but when I click the components, it just shows me another type cut tool. Any help would be appreciated. I left EQ back in January and came back in November, and the new recipies and such are confusing. Thanks in advance.

    You buy the cut tool from any of the JC vendors that sell the new molds for the palladium (I think it is 'square cut tool'), the guy near the bank in Tranquility is the closest one to PoK that I know of. Combine the tool alone in a JC kit and it will turn in to the next 'cut' type in the chain (I don't know quite what it is off hand, but for example: Square Cut tool -> Round Cut tool -> Half-Moon Cut tool -> etc). Then you combine that with the eyeglass and the gem of choice in the JC kit to get the 'cut' gemstone. Then you combine that with the molded palladium piece for the end result.

      so you just need one tool, and you just keep combining it in the kit until you get the cut you want, then use it with your other combines? Am I reading that right? If that is yes, does that mean the tool is one use only? Sorry for being such a noob, but its confusing to me.

        The tool is returned on all combines. Your other understandings are correct but I'll flesh it out a little more just to make sure.

        The tool progresses in the following manner when you combine it (alone) in a jewel craft kit

        Square -> Round -> Oval -> Half-Moon -> Trilion -> Pear -> Marquise -> Square

        So if you need the Half-Moon tool, you just pick up a Square Cut Tool from a vendor, and combine it three times to get the one you want. Then do the combines as listed to get the particular gem you want.
