  • When to try to make the trophy?

How soon after hitting 250 in JC were y'all successful in making the trophy? Soon afterwards or what?

I'm not a level 59 yet, so I can't put any AA points into JCM. My intelligence is at 229 and I have a geerlok. My JC is also at 229, so I have some time before I get the urge to do the trophy.

    Thanks.

I was already 250 when the trophys came out, but I did mine as soon as I could afford it. Being a chanter though 50 cha was a nice upgrade for me.

I tried as soon as I got there and had my trophy attempt die in the final firing of the kiln.

So when's the best time to do it? When you can afford to have 4k burned with nothing to show for it.

Like others suggested, as soon as you have the money to burn on it. Obvisouly you'll have a greater shot at succeeding the closer to 250 that you are but there's still a chance to fail. Personally I got myself to 250 then tried and successed on first attempt.

          Good luck!

242+geerlok puts you at 252 which is the stated max so at that skill you should have the greatest chance of success possible, though there are some that swear by the fact that its better to have a raw skill of 250 /shrug Personally I was in the 240's (I believe it was 242 but it has been awhile), equipped my geerlok and succeed on my first try. Good luck with it

Tried mine at 250 and made it first shot. My chanter is my jeweler.

You don't mention just how far from 59 you are, but if you're close, and you're planning on putting points into JCM soon, you might want to wait for that, providing you're not particularly hurting for the 50 cha, 10 int, etc. (Ok, who am I kidding...who CAN'T use 50 cha and 10 int as a chanter, if only to allow swapping out some other piece of gear...) At 4k+ per attempt, a couple of failures can really hurt, and even one level of JCM will cut the likelihood of that pretty noticably.

If you're not close, or have higher priorities for your AA points, I'd do it as soon as I had the money to attempt it.

Good luck on the trophy whenever you do decide to go for it...

                  GM Trophy

Got my trophy at 240 skill (plus geerlok) on first attempt. I was so worried about failure that I made 5 artisans seals. I now have 4 left over for my other characters when I get close enough for the attempt.

Mostly depend on a few factors...

If you are VERY rich and don`t mind failing a few times, you should try asap if you will use the item for the 50 charisma in mezing/charming...
althought you should make sure to have 252 JC with the item modifier you have, this is a MUST, spending money in improving the skill will be less costy then many failures.

Also, if you plan on improving some JC mastery soon, you might want to wait for then to make it to save on the risk of failing the combine, if not, then ASAP sound good as you gain nothing from waiting.

Remind yourself you waste like 4k (was 5k when BD where worth 2k alone) each time, but you ALSO get a very nice bag that is worth more then 4k alone if you compare to tinkering...

                    Take care

Me I was having some JC mastery alread when I learn about the trophy so I didn`t really have to ask myself, and since I was not planning improving JC mastery soon when I learn about it, I just combine ASAP.
