  • Skill path for 250 to 300?

I am looking for the cheapest way to go from 250 to 300 from vendor sellable items (although simple combines from other schools like gem-studded chains are also an option). I am most interested in combines up to 282, as I may choose to stop there, and let my skill go up naturally as I work on items that I sell which have a trivial above 282.

I remember in the past seeing a spreadsheet that listed trivial of all items, along with the vendor cost of buying the components for those items. I can't seem to find that list any more.

Looking at this site, I did find some more useful information, although I don't think it covers 280+.

For 280+, I'd go vendor diving for jacinths, black sapphires, diamonds, and blue diamonds. Make platinum + gem until trivial, then velium + gem (loss is about 20pp per combine for platinum, 100pp per combine for velium). The diamonds and blue diamonds trivial at higher levels, so you might want to save them for last.

Many new people miss it, but in the the guides forum you will find The Complete Tradeskill Guide. The paths listed are generally the best route to 300, though of course any extra combines you happen to have parts for are always good too.

          From the guide:

          251 - 252 Platinum Pearl Ring
          253 - 255 Platinum Topaz Necklace
          256 - 258 Platinum Peridot Ring
          259 - 260 Platinum Emerald Ring
          261 - 263 Platinum Opal Engagement Ring
          264 - 268 Platinum Fire Wedding Ring
          269 - 271 Platinum Star Ruby Veil
          272 - 274 Fire Emerald Platinum Ring
          275 - 279 Platinum Ruby Veil
          280 - 282 Velium Ruby Veil
          283 - 300 Gem Studded Chain

I opted vendor diving for Diamonds:

          283-287 Platinum Diamond Wedding rings
          287-290 Velium Diamond Wedding Rings

Then moved to Gem Studded Chains.

My main reasoning is that you get a bunch of your money recycled, where as for the Gem Studded Chains you gte virtually nothing (but if you save hundreds of them like I did (and still waiting to make more to level up trophy) you can use them to make Ceremonial Solstice Robes (252 Trivial).

Do the Gem Studded Chains at least stack? For some reason, I didn't think they did.

I'm up to 293 on BDs and it's getting very expensive. GSC is still a little pricey, and you don't revocer your cost as quickly, but I might give it a try it I can stack them and store them.

Nope. They don't stack. It's a good path if you are in a hurry and just want to buy the last few points, but I opted for velium BD bracers since the loss on sellback is about 100 less per combine.

Tell that to the RNG that ran up 250 Gem Studded Chains with 0 skillups at 290 skill.

Also, I find the value of Blue Diamonds to be more useful for other recipes than the JC ones (tinkering is my personal crutch for BDs).

Aye, I'm saving my 10 stacks or so for BD cultural for smithing!

On the flip side, you don't have to collect blue diamonds. It's all vendor.

Its also nice if you can arrange it so you are skilling tailoring on solstice robes at the same time.

As stated they do not stack. I Did recently burn through about 120 chains which was ~240 combines for some tailoring skill ups, I got 18 points and a lot of bank space back, but I still have a mule with 160 more chains waiting to be processed.
