  • JC broken???

I am currently at 285 in JC with the new Journey mans trophy. I have done over 100 combines with the Velium/Diamond and velium/blue diamond combinations with not a single point up. I have talked to others and they say this is not normal. Any suggestions? Is JC broken at higher end?

    Any advice would help. Thanks.

PS, I have been doing about 50/50 with and without the new trophy and I get no message about not being able to raise skill with trophy.

It's just the RNG being mean. Right now you're having a bad streak, but at some point you will have a good one to balance it out.

I had some horrible runs too while getting my chanter to 300 JC too. Literally days of vendor farming for blue diamonds and praying each time for a skill up to get me over the bump. Keep at it, that's all the advice I can give.

My suggestion is to talk to different people.

Unfortunately, this is no only normal, but expected. You'll have several long runs like this, without a skill up. Don't be surprised to see a run of 200 (though I hope you don't come anywhere near that.)

        Now repeat after me:
The RNG is sentient. The RNG is evil. The RNG doesn't like you.

200? I was one of those who got stuck with 1000 combines between skillups (at around 292)... I've done several hundred since the last one also with no points. The RNG hates me, but since it picks on me so much hopefully it will save someone else from that ultra-tiny chance to really suck.

unfortunately, the rng (not just in eq, but in a generic sense) is best viewed as a prime adherant to Murphies Law... which supercedes anything the physicists, computer science types, et. al., can ever devise. if this seems incredible, consider the following... your chances of being struck by lightning are higher than for winning the lottery.

insofar as trade skills are concerned, it is a given that the more difficult & costly, the closer you are to a milestone, the more likely that ebil gremlins will raise their ugly heads. there is a bright side to this however... not even the showEQ crowd has an advantage here

an aside.... understand, in the world of computers, a "random number generator" is named as incorrectly as is "random access memory", neither are random. also understand, this is NOT under programmers control, it is an element of the hardware architecture... for the purposes of a game like eq, the string length is sufficiently long to serve the intended purpose.

Yup. My record was 322 combines, going from 211 to 212 in baking. Thanks gawd it was just misty picnics. It's just "one of those things' but it can still #$%^ you off quite nicely. Good luck with you skillups from hereon in!
