5/7 vs 6/7 Trophy

Question:
Should I get 300 and then start my Master Trophy test? or do my Expert test now?

Reason for asking:
I spent the last 2 hours searching and it LOOK like some test requires turning in my current trophy, I think it was for mastery quest. I also found -
Master Jeweler test
1. 2 Blackened Pearl Silver Ring
2. 4 Jaded Electrum Bracelet
3. 4 Golden Hematite Choker
4. 1 Palladium Lapis Lazuli Earring
5. 3 Platinum Topaz Necklaces
6. 1 Grandmaster Jeweler’s Eyeglass
7. 1 Velium Diamond Wedding Ring
8. 1 Platinum Blue Diamond Tiara
9. 1 Velium Blue Diamond Bracelet
10. 1 Palladium Diamond Veil
I don't see trophy on that list anywhere

Cant find expert test requirements but I assume they are cheaper to make and was thinking that may make more finacial sense to go the lower route.

Thing I am really confused on:
Is the above list in addition to having the old trophy? or does having the old version allow you to skip something some how?

If I get the expert version it will eventually evolve to Master and then eventually to Grandmaster level on its own? or do you have to pass the test for each level? ie if I do expert will I have to do Mastery when it evolves anyway?

It will evolve. You only do one task. You can do the Expert now, or wait to do the Master...your choice.

Step 6 of the master quest you linked is to make the old trophy. If you hand your already-made old trophy to the task giver (not the judge), you get credit for having made this item already. This is the only short-cut granted to people who have the old trophy.

If you complete the Expert (5) task, you may save a little pp, but you will have to level your trophy up to the Master level (6) doing non-trivial combines. The trophy will gain xp very fast because of your skill, so it will catch up to you. But, it will only gain xp on non-trivial combines. So, you will already have dinged 300 before the trophy catches up (most likely). I would suggest getting that last skillup, and then doing the masters task. You will save pp in the long run getting to your level 6 trophy.

So it is an either/or situation if you have the old trophy....
Either turn in your Old trophy OR do the task.

Sweet I apprciate the feedback. Have not seen that anywhere, but I havn't spoken to the NPC yet either.

It's not an either/or ...

The old trophy is required for the Master Task as you have listed. It's required item #6 on the list. So you make that AND TURN IT IN, along with all of the other items on that list. (I'd suggest turning it in last, btw, so you keep it's mod until you get your new trophy).

if you are 299 (un-modified) I would wait to 300

All Expert task lists I've seen (gotten 3 myself) also include the old trophy. Either way, if you are 250+ and want the new trophy, you're gonna have to give up your old one.

BTW, I've done the Expert JC trophy (I'm at 291, myself). It required mostly storebought components. The only exceptions I remember are 3(?) Palladium items (easy to come by), 2 Black Pearls (same item as Master trophy, Blackened Pearl Silver Rings), and a Shimmering Nihilte (for a Golden Shimmering Necklace).
