  • New tradeskill trophy and GM trophy

I'm not 100% sure about this, but there is something I wonder about.
If you do the new trophy quest and have the GM trophy, are the combines identical to when you do not have the GM trophy?

If they are, should the quest for GM trophy holders not be a little shorter/less combines? I feel as if I already 'sort of proved" I am good at my skill by having my GM trophy.
Makes me want to kick myself spending all that time&pp on getting my GM in the first place

At least with the new one I don't have to worry for fails

Maybe someone (dev?) can tell us/me why?

You need to have/ make the old gm trophy in order to make the new one, so look at this as a step beyond the old one. It has vastly better modifier, it takes more skill to acquire...so this is sort of a GM gm trophy.

PS The task shows that you need to make an old trophy, just giving your old one to the quest giver (who returns it) will fullfill that step. The Judge does keep your old one tho, so turn that in as your last step.

I posted this question as well in another post. THe new trophies are not meant to be an upgrade to the old trophies per-say. They are supposed to "progress" along side you from beginner to GM. In that event, it makes no sense at all to require someone with skill 50 to turn in a GM trophy due to the fact that the cost of failures will be outrageous. I plan on taking a toon with no or little skill and checking tomorrow to see what the quest entails at that level. For the most part, I think only folks well into thier Tradeskilling have tested out the tasks, I don't think folks with no skill decided to suddenly get into tradeskills for the new trophy.

The test starts you where you are at skill level. If your not at the level to make the trophy yet I don't think you get the message to turn it in until you get to that point.
I've got the trophy to 6/7, has anyone got 7/7 yet?

How did you get it to 6/7?

Is it by making non tradeskill combines or by xping with it equiped?

You level it by doing non-trivial combines with it equipped.

I didn't have it equipped when I did the combines. I did all the combines at at the same time and did the turn ins at the same time. It did't upgrade until I equipped it and combined the score card.

                    Ok. A bit of clarification:

When you go to get the quest from the halfling, you will get one of 6 quests (depending on your skill at the time.)

For instance, from 200 to 249, you'll get Journeyman. From 250 to 299, you'll get Expert. At 300, you'll get Master.

You do your quest (which involves making 10 different items, sometimes multiples of each, and turning them in to the Judge nearby.) You receive a Scorecard of the appropriate level (Journeyman, Expert, Master, etc.) from the Judge.

You give this scorecard to the halfling who gave you the quest. She gives you two items (maybe just 1 if you are at the lowest level): The Beginner Trophy (Level 1) and a Certificate.

You equip the trophy, and combine the Certificate alone in an appropriate container (Oven/Spit/Mixing Bowl if you are doing Baking trophy, Sewing Kit/etc. if you are doing Tailoring, and so forth) to automatically evolve it to your current level.

So, if you are at, say, 284 skill...you do the Expert Quest, and when you combine the Certificate, you receive the Expert trophy (level 5).

The trophies then gain experience as you do non-trivial, successful combines (with trivials less than 100 points above your current skill) while you have the trophy equipped. So, you only do one quest of the 6, then the trophy evolves into the higher ones.

                        Got 7/7 today.

Almost exactly 1000 non-trivial (base) combines. I did 10 augs and about 990-1000 Gem Studded Chains with my 6/7 Trophy equipped. Took approximately 7 hours and about 400k.

IMO there's no rush to get it to level 7 except to be able to say you did I'm quite happy to let mine level up slowly as the combine requests come along heh. 12% is still a far cry better than the old 5% in the meantime.
